Uhh... Why here?? Again?! Got some new 'investments' on it... :)

MDT AR15 Grip - Much better than the factory one. You can feel something solid and comfortable in the hand to fight against that heavy skeleton body...

Saber Tatical under rail - Extended length put the whole bottle covered. And the flat under-side platform lays very comfortable in the palm or other rest. Side slots and picatinny rail I don't have things to put on yet... Let's wait and see...

3D printed bubble level from ineedpal - convenient to avoid canting (before using it, I didn't realize I had been actually canting the gun slightly to the left (bottom to the outside, right) :thumb:

Westhunter low profile scope rings - another fancy thing as the nice bright gold color ~ But I do like the lower profile than the FX unlimit mid to high profile one which I bought with the gun

Same model fancy FFP scope as the ones on my CZ200 and XS28 (someone will be loving to see that ~ :) )

A 2nd 28 shots large capacity mag - Multi shot... Multi shot plinker.... I understand why ppl bought extra mags for their replicas now... (if It's a full auto.... [emoji38] I don't have more money to buy mags then....)

Back to the topic... Actually achieving the result for now, I dumped 3.18lbs of lead into my pellet trap... It's really tricky to tame this tiny beast... Finally looks I understood and figured out a way to tune it... And There's still a lot of room to improve and for further fine tuning... Let me take a break and finish the write-up first...

Forget about the wrong way I had been on, basically the Impact is designed for 'MAX' power output (same word from Travis) , not just 'high' output...

And if you want to tune it down, you need to find that balance point...

With the big Power Plenum 720 72cc volume plenum before the valve, it supposes you to drain a lot of air every shot... When you don't, It's hard to maintain the prefect working order to refill air into it from the much smaller 1st stage plenum behind the reg1.

That's what the problem I got....

FX introduced the Power Plenum 720 in M3 and it also be sold it as an upgrade package for previous models are for max out the power of the Impact... But it became the most difficulty for me to come over~

The major issue I had was inconsistent muzzle speed. Speed spreaded could be more than 30fps in continually shots, no matter rapid shots or slow shots... And I also met the air leaking due to valve couldn't reseal after shot...

What I found out under the great helps from Lots or discussions with my buddy Tom, AGS Travis and FX USA and Google/YouTube friend... The direction to tame it down is do NOT use the factory recommendation regulator settings for 22 cal, which is 70bar for reg2. With 70bar and usual4 lines valve setting, the M3 is going for 800 to 900fps depends on hammer settings... Even you keeps the hammer tension to the lowest, you won't lower down the speed too much and a too low hammer setting will also lead to other issues...

The 177 cal M3 setting also gave me some reference... 90bar reg2, very high hammer tension... Don't know the valve but it could not be as much as on other calibers...

So... My setting now is 85bar reg2, Marco 11, Micro 4 and slightly over2 lines valve setting... Higher hammer tension maintains a steady punch every time. Higher regulator setting maintains the valve working better and reseal well each time.

The main thing to control the power is depending on the valve now... Slightly over 2 lines gives it about 14.5 fpe.

On the same valve setting and the previous about in the mid range hammer tension the power can be lowered to 500fps something... Almost a silent shooter at that time.

Next step will be fine fine fine tuning the valve and apply the 95% rule to fine tune the hammer... Hopefully I can find a more consistent sweet spot and improve the efficiency... I think the regulator setting of 85bar should be fine at this point....

Just my on going experiment on my M3... Please kindly share your opinions and thoughts~

Looking good.
I found valve lift has the biggest impact on velocity, especially if you are trying to lower it down to below 500fps. Mine is at 1 line and it shoots slightly under 500fps. I don't touch most of other settings.

Yeah~ as mentioned by Travis too, the regulator recovery rate in the Impact is fast and the rifle has full range of adjustment.

In general to tune an Impact, I think you just need to use the valve adjustment to find out the power output to your liking, then through the hammer tension to fine tune the efficiency.

For the regulators, Reg2 setting can try this first... 80bar for 22 cal, 90bar for 177 or 22 low power, 100 bar for bigger calibers. (On the manual, you need 130bar to 135bar for 35 cal....)

Then add 30 bars for Reg1. (For usual settings... And there are TONs of videos and information out there for extreme setups...)

Keeping150bar factory setup for Reg1 is fine... In my own case, I don't need that high and I don't want to top it up on every time at 150 bar.... I am still using the handpump and..... You know... I can shoot one or two extra mags from 150 bar to 120 bar... Or I can pump it to 200 bar not 230 bar to maintain the same shot counts... :)

I am amazed what low Reg2 pressures you talking about, but again I am shooting 100 meter rings and I need a higher pufff to propel the projectile.
I have a MK2 not the M3, but both pretty much work the same with a 720c plenum + powerblock, except the action block the internals all the same.
The M3 have Reg1 + Reg2 and my MK2 is tethered through an external Reg and a Reg. The hammer and valve functions the same.
I am shooting a Min weight of 34gr .25 cal pellets @ 100 meters, and two ways to tune for it.
Low Reg and long Dwell or high Reg and short Dwell.
Regardless that I am tethering 190 bars (that would be your Reg1) I have found that @ 155 bars (your Reg2) and short Dwell the speed of 930 fps ES is a single digit and the SD is shorter then my x600 barrel.

Yeah~ our two Impact are two different animals for sure~ well proved what means 'full ranger adjustable'...

I need to overly lower down the power and you need to overclock the power~ both of us couldn't follow the instructions on the manual... [emoji38]

Mine now works a lot better than before but still need more tuning to achieve a flat and consistent result...

Regarding the hammer tension setting scales on the quick tune system, the naming and the instructions on line might be misleading.... And I didn't find 'useful' explanation until I figured out what it actually means....

We usually read 'use Marco xxx Micro xxx' to tune hammer... Looks Marco setting is what you need to do first then fine tune with the Micro...

I would say you can forget the Marco dial as it's just a lazy dial and I will explain a better way to use it later...

The hammer tension adjustable range is on the Micro knob... From the marker 5 to 1. You don't need to touch the Marco dial And only use the Micro knob to finish your setting.

No matter what number on the Macro dial, 1 or 16, if the Micro points at the same marker, You get the same hammer tension setting. So, Marco 16 / Micro 4 is exactly equal to Marco 1 / Micro 4...

The Marco dial only gives you a quicker way hopping from one point to the other...

How to use the Macro dial in a better way? When you got time, 'reset' it to the 8 or around the middle could be a better idea... Because you on Micro 3 but Macro at 16 already, When you want to add some hammer tension, you couldn't use the Macro dial and have to 'fine tune' it with the Micro knob which might be 10 times slower than use the Macro dial to turn it from 8 to 15 (if you already reset it in home to 8 not left it at 16)...
