This is my review of the Reximex Daystar (Prentensis) .177 sub-500 fps

I ordered this from Canada Shooting Supply https://canadashootingsupply.ca/ last Saturday. It was promptly shipped on Monday, and I received it this Tuesday.
I reached out to Raman with my concern if this rifle could survive the thrashing during shipment without being bent, but he assured me that CSS ensures all of its products are well packaged, and true to his word the rifle was packed with sufficient foam in it's main box, and was double boxed to ensure safe shipping.
Safe to say it arrived unscathed.

The walnut stock is just awesome. The stock stippling has a unique circular pattern on it. I like how the trigger guard is actually part of the wood stock.
The trigger is adjustable, and I'm satisfied with how it came from the factory.
I was surprised with how light it was, is just the right weight after attaching my 4x32 scope to it (I only shoot a short distance of around 30 feet in my basement).
It has the right balance and its ergonomics fits me very well for the way that I shoot.

It arrived with 180 bars, and I waited purposely for 5 days before I shot it, so I can check if there was any leak. My day 1 and day 5 photos of the gauge showed exactly 180 bars and I'm glad that my copy has no leaks. I understand that eventually, we need to do maintenance to our o-rings at some point in time to keep them from leaking.

I did 2 mags worth of shots at 180 bars, I then filled it up to 200 bars to compare as well as 250 bars, and it was consistent enough. The accuracy is what can be expected from a PCP rifle at 30 feet even for a sub-500 fps model... it's a tack driver (with the right pellet).

My copy will do a ragged hole using the Excite econ wadcutter 7.4gr, and this loads butter smooth using the included mags.
My copy does not like any Crosman pellets (destroyer 7.4gr, hollowpoint 7.9gr, premier wadcutter 7.9gr, premier domed 10.5gr). These do not group well (holes not touching), and some are rough to load especially the premier domed.
I will be ordering the Diabolo exact rs 7.33gr to check if my copy likes this one. H&N does not seem to have one that is light enough (sub-8gr) for a sub-500 fps rifle, other than their green line, I may get these in the future as well, just to test it.

To sum it up, I'm really happy with this air rifle. It has exceeded my humble requirements of being able to shoot more than 30 shots before refilling, I can just top off the gas without degassing if it gets to an unusable pressure (this is really a pain on a QB78), and that it be reasonably accurate using affordable pellets.
Thanks to the guys here who answered my questions about this air rifle.
Kudos to CSS for the quick shipping and Raman for sparing some time to personally reply to my inquiries.

Yeah~ it looks so pretty!

I am actually thinking the Excite pellet not a good pellet because when they just came out years ago for the good peice and I wanted try something new, I tried some on my guns and they shot like crap... :(

And when your JSB came home, I think you can group them into one hole, one small hole maybe just a bit larger than the pellet diameter, not the many holes just touched each other and form "one" big hole on the picture....

I truly believe your rifle can do that in 30 feet.

And better to check the muzzle speed, if its not being detuned too much, you don't need to avoid the 8g pellets. Sometimes the a little bit heavier pellet may group even better. Just no need to buy and try those heavy ones which designed for the high power rifles which might go over 1000fps when using normal weight pellets...

Agreed with YepYep. A nice gun deserves quality pellets. JSB's and H&N are popular choices. The Excite stuff is casual plinking quality. I love the Turkish walnut. A good looking gun.

Thank you both for the advice on the pellets. I will be receiving these mid-week next week, and will let you know of the results.

Good choices on pellets~

And by the way, you shoot rested or something else? And do you have bigger power scopes in home?

From 10 meters, when I shoot rested, I usually use 10x power on scopes. So I can see and aim the tiny thing as small as a hole made by previous shot and then send the next pellet into the same hole.

Why I mention this is because today I picked up my 2240 carbine to shoot which I switched out the scope some time ago and it's on a 4x32 scope that comes in the box with my cz200. It's a decent small scope, but I have a hard time to aim such a small size spot 9 yards away. (the cz200 is with a 4-16x44 FFP scope now)ImageImageImageImage

Congrats, it is a fine looking rifle, I do like the colour and detail on the stock, very rich.
I may need to get one of these, but maybe I need to start shooting again first. :drinkers:

I'm shooting rested, but I need to remember when my last cup of coffee was, otherwise, it will be jittery even behind a scope

I have a spare generic 6-24x50 scope. I will try this one out when I receive the pellets. I'll let you know how it goes on this setup.

But I'm honestly thinking that it's the shooter (me) that still needs to improve in this case

Yeyyep, your cz200 on that laminated stock looks great! that scope looks so fine with the red screws matching the color scheme of the stock. I'm not a serious shooter, but wow you guys have really beautiful guns here!

Don't worry about the coffee~ Your pose and the nice rifle worth 10 cups of the coffees~ [emoji38]

I am looking forward to your new pellets too~

Thanks~ Actually red color is not my native love colors and it looks so pretty on the CZ200 and the scope is really a surprise to me too~ :)

My CZ200 is a un regulated full power version which I bought from the forum store. I tuned it down a little bit to shoot 8.44 JSB at about700fps for a little more shot counts and more consistent outputs.

I just received the pellets and am now using my generic (a.k.a. cheap) 6-24x50 scope this time so I can see a bit better.

I made sure that my last coffee was a few hours away from the time I did these shots. I only did 3 shots per pellet type because this is the first time ever that I have made groups these tight before, and to be honest I may never be able to duplicate these again because I was having a headache after this session from holding my breath for too long during each shot, it wasn't much fun anymore
But it did prove that the right pellets matter. From what I observed, my Daystar loves the H&N match light 7.87gr. The next one it likes is the JSB RS 7.33gr, then the JSB 8.44, and last on the 4 samples that it likes is the H&N excite hammer 7.87gr. All 4 were better than the H&N excite econ 7.4gr of which I originally thought was already grouping to my satisfaction.
I'm really glad I tried these pellets, it showed what my rifle can do with better pellets. Thanks for the advice.

My next test is to do 10 shots for each sample, I think this will be more realistic than my 3-shot test. No more pellet to pellet this time
But my foresight tells me that I will be wanting a regulator after this 10-shot test, I just need to remind myself to be content that this is not a target rifle and keep it as is for fun shooting.

Nice results. You may find standard H&N match a little more consistent. I use the sports for most of my practice.

Are you sure you did shoot 3 shots each group and they were all on the paper?! ;) I only see one small hole each group~

Good enough for the grouping analysis... Just zero the scope and enjoy the plinking~

Yeah, by the way I agree that the H&N Match are very good pellets~ Where did you buy yours?

Thanks jckstrthmghty. As for the H&N Match 8.18gr, I will give it a try as well.

Yepyep, yeah those are once-in-a-lifetime groups with some help from H&N Match Light (got them from css) and JSB RS, and a bigger magnification scope. My usual group size (5 shots) is the one on the top post. Or it could have been that I missed loading the mag and may have been shooting air only on the next 2 shots
