Not sure if I am the first one who have bought and have this nice rifle in a great price in hand....

Missed the rocket fast delivery yesterday and picked it up from my local post office when I on my way home this afternoon.

First of all, this is NOT an old stock. It's freshly made in December 2022 in Germany. So, it's equipped with the T06 trigger not the T05 in the old production run back to about 2014 and earlier...

The built quality looks very good! And the hardwood stock is very nice too! Weight feels not that heavy in handling. Don't need big effort to cock however the side lever open angel is a bit too wide to me and need to get used to it.

Both front sight and rear sight are adjustable! Which this is very helpful for me as I found it shoots a bit low in my basement and after moving the front sight all the way to the back it shoots just right on then~

Watch out for the tiny retention steel balls under the rear sight elevation adjusting plate... I almost lost one as it just fell off from the bowl... when I turned around I heard it dropped on the wood floor.... After using a flash light and checking where the sound came from for about 5 minutes and I found it and at that time I have no idea where it came from... The only thing I was sure is this thing must came off from somewhere in the gun... I was cleaning the barrel (not too dirty and maybe I can say it's clean for something fresh out from the production line~) and hadn't shot it yet... I was thinking should I call Bullseye North and return the rifle as I don't know if it's safe to operate or not... [emoji38]

Image

The gun shoots very well~ took about 10 shots using the H&N Baracuda 10.65g pellet with the open sight. Finished zeroing and done a few power estimating shots... Recoil is little. That's very surprised me for such a high power rifle in 177 caliber... I was expecting it jumping in my hands actually~ aAnd the open sights are easy to sight in and get good results... I feel headache again about the scope or not scope problem now...

5 shots and 4 holes on the can... I couldn't see the big red cross from 9 yards away... :crying: When aiming, just put the whole can onto the rear sight picture and aimed at the center... (a few clicks on rear sights in these 5 shots and got the right one at the last shot and then I turned to next testing~ :)

Image

And because it's not a pistol which I can still see a clear front sight but a blur one on the Diana 48... Maybe I can try using my reading glasses again this time...

Shot at the big wood block and pellet just got into it very deep, precisely speaking 2.5cm deep. Adding the deformed pellet in the bottom of the hole... Maybe it reached 3cm then??

My FX pocket radar chrono is attached on my Impact... Later I will setup it with a tri pod to see how fast it is at the moment... Didn't see smoke and smell anything, but I removed the stock and can see good but not too much over lube on the spring... Things look quite good and just ready to shoot~

About the 5 shots for fine tuning the sights after making sure pellets were on target by shooting at a big cardboard paper... Image

LOL~ Nailed it!! With my cracked reading glasses looks the open sight is much easier to use~

And the heavy Baracuda finally found someone can enjoy it!!

Image

Watch from 0:15... [emoji38] obviously our gentleman just had some issue to see the front sight, not the target~

Awesome!
But YepYep, where is the photo of the beautiful stock? We need a hi-res overview.
Did you adjust the trigger? The T-06 supposed to be near Rekord quality and feel.

LOL~ my bad.... I forgot the first whole gun picture I took right after I took the gun out and removed the plastic bag~

It's much better than in the picture~ So after I cleaning the barrel, I applied a thin layer of wax on it before shooting it... Image

I didn't play with the trigger too much yet...

Tried to adjust the 1st stage travel which the screw is VERY tight and I gave up as my smaller flat head screw driver blade got bent and it didn't move then I used a slightly bigger screw driver and it still didn't move....

Then I adjusted the set off point screw a 1/4 turn, feel a little bit better...

I didn't touch the trigger weight adjustment screw. But the factory setting is not very heavy and I feel it's okay to me and there only about 10 shots so far... I think I will put more time on the trigger later after it fully ran in...

So far, the T06 trigger feels not bad to me... Not really"crispy", but very predictable and I can say similar to the Rekord trigger~

Yeah~ absolutely too much power for 177~

In my basement range, it just shooting the Baracuda heavy pellet into the solid wood block for about 3cm, more than an inch deep. And shot through a SPAM can with a conpressed pop can inside leaving 4 nicely cut small holes on the walls... Image

Yup that 48 had the power to break your glasses.

Seriously, one of the top three springers out there. I showed my friend the promotion but he decided not to pull the pin. I doubt we see that price again.

Just curious......do you have a HW97 or HW50? I am thinking on buying another rifle, and wondering how it compares to them.

I have a nice 97K and a 30s, no 50 tho...

Comparing with the brand new Diana48 and my well tuned (by previous owner) HW97K, both in 177...

HW97 is shooting around 11fpe with the Vortek kit in low setting (775fps on 8.2g R10 Rifle pellet).

And the Diana I don't check yet, and on paper it shoots in 20fpe, thinking it's around 900fps with the 10.65g Baracuda I am using now.

Loading the Diana48 feels very easy... Means I might need to feed her with bigger head size pellets?? I actually didn't do any pellet testing yet... One reason it looks like the Baracuda. Second reason... Without a scope and I am in a close range basement, looks not necessary to waste my pellets, yet... If I couldn't even group I need to try another pellet... But now, So far so good~ and I am lazy... [emoji38]

And while loading on the 97 which is much tighter...

Size... Diana is a bit longer and with the factory open sights the comb section on the stock is flatter than the scope only HW97.

Image

Image
(above picture the two rifles were aligned on the trigger)

On specs, 97k is 4.3kg (without scope), the Diana 48 is 3.9kg. While handling these two, the Diana feels much lighter. Not the bad meaning here, or I should say the 97 feels too heavy when compare to the Diana 48. Of course i have a scope on the 97.

Which surprised me again.... It's easier to shoot the Diana 48 magnum than the HW97, less felt recoil and less jumping and you get much more power which sounds not right but it just happening... Looks I do need to put a scope on the Diana then make these two German girls fight again on a fair condition~

The built and quality of the Diana is very good. I am very satisfied. However when compare to the Weihrauch HW97, the flag ship model, the HW97 looks better, at least more robust, and feels much more solid than the Diana.
Image

Image
Here (above) on the 97 is 3mm thickness...

More details regards the Diana48...

Cocking lever released position.
Image

Cocking lever fully opened (cocked and safety engaged)
Image

Piston return safety engaged while opening the cocking lever... Need to press down the release button on the left prior to close the lever.
Image

Adjustable front sight. Which I moved it from about 1/3 to the front to all the way back.
Image

Price...

The price on Bullseye North website is back to original, $759, 11 available. And in AGS which is $799.

HW97.... Anyone of you can still find a new HW97 to buy in Canada today?? [emoji38] Before the stock was all out, it's $899.99 from D&L... Not sure if price could go up to around one K if new shipments in...

The Diana 48 is often overlooked in favor of other "high end" fixed barrel springers like the HW97/77, AA TX200/Pro Sport. But the Diana has a pedigree that makes it worth adding to a collection. Now notec has some nice wood on his springers, so perhaps (suggest) he look for a Diana 52 "Luxus". D&L carried them back when I was younger (2010 ish) and I haven't seen them around in recent years, but I do remember they had some fine wood stocks, not GinB, but well worth considering. Here is an good read:

Yes... And 52 has checkerings on stock right?! And the 48 only has a plain stock... A white line before butt pad adds a little luxury tho~ :)
