I currently have an infestation of Einstein Rats, they won't go near the traps, zappers or poison. I've dispatched a couple using my plinker from the 70's. I currently have my plinker, my Crosman MK1 (needs new seals), a new Sig X-5 and a shiny new Sig MCX Gen II. I Killed my first mouse at 6 with a Daisy BB gun. I was also my grandfather's vermin dispatcher at an early age with a different weapon.

I'll be getting my PAL soon, so I'll be looking for a new rifle, these are my ideal criteria:

Max Velocity 1000+ fps
Muzzle Power 50+ foot pounds
Function Semi-auto
Suggested for Hunting, Target Practice
Caliber .22 (5.5mm)
Loudness 2-Medium-Low
Shot Capacity 20+
Barrel Rifled
Powerplant Pre-charged pneumatic

I liked the Airforce Condor SS, but it's single shot and LOUD. I'd prefer to keep the gun under $1,000 CDN.
Fixed/adj. power Multiple settings - Luxury
Operating Pressure 3000 PSI / 206 BAR
Looks Kewl LOL

Any advice appreciated.

Actually never heard about anything have this kind of power is not loud... They will be LOUD or LOUDER.... [emoji38]

By the way... Is your budget includes the air source? Pump, compressor or something else... And scope too? Looks a very tight budget...

Welcome to the forum.

You won't find many if any semi auto pellet rifles worthy to pest with. Repeaters, many. If you need quiet then a good underlever like a TX200 or a HW97k are worthy considerations. PCP's tend to be loud.

Good luck on your search.

From what I have read, anything over 1000fps in .22 will have limited accurate range and 50 plus foot pounds is very ambitious for a .22 pellet?.......If you find it, it will have a loud BARK. LOL

I think you need to get into a .30 cal?

TX or 97 is usually12fpe and for targets... OP needs 50FPE +... As mentioned, Condor is one of the choices and also within the budget... Otherwise need to consider those with price tags as 3K+ to get such a high power and maybe with longer barrel could make it a little bit quieter... But I don't think the muzzle report could even any close to level 2... If a 2240 is level 4, a PCP shooting 50fpe could be level 8?! Maybe louder? Anyone shot those beasts can chime in?!

Oh, yeah... Over looked this too... 22 cal is too small for the 50+fpe... Just checked Chairgun, even using 18g pellet, you need 1100fps to get 48fpe... If on 14.3g CPHP.... 1250fps gives you 49.6fpe...

Dream line can do 48fpe... And a little over budget but everything else should meet the credentials... As I know the dream line is not super loud...

Impact is the popular model from FX and super customizable (means it's a money pit...)

12 fpe is a british legal deal or field target, which is by no coincidence being the same. A full powered tx200 is around 16fpe, far more than required to pest rats with. I did mention if the OP required a quiet solution. A pcp at 50 fpe is powder burning loud and far far more fpe required for pesting. Even 12 fpe would be more than enough to pest rats with at 50 yards. The downside would be a non repeater.

Yep, I agreed~ That's true... If only for rats we really don't need such high power... 12fpe actually is good enough. If go for posting and 22 cal, full power can give you higher muzzle speed which is better than using 12fpe. Because ppl usually tune their TX and 97 to this power level (177 cal)... I almost forgot the original full power (or say FAC?!) is about 16fpe. :)

And springers are way more quieter than PCP at the same power level... The weak point for springers is usually around 20fpe to 25fpe (bigger caliber) is their power ceiling... And right now PCPs can do 100+fpe with bigger calibers...

I dispatch a lot of rats sometimes 4 nights per week. Mostly I use a $150 gun ( fusion II) converted to PCP in 177, because of the design of the gun, I would call the loudness a 1. I use 13.43 gr at 700 FPS with 14 fpe. I have the gun zeroed at 20m and shoot from 7 to 35 m with it. The gun is equipped with an ATN 4K pro day night scope at $1000. For a while I did use a Gauntlet with power reduced to 600 fps with 16 gr. I have purchased and used a Tormenta .177, Puncher mega.22, stormy 25 cal, stormy 22 cal. The Stormy 25 cal would be a great gun but is way to loud.

I set up bait stations as seen in this video to control shooting area. https://youtu.be/snKml3ryMqQ At each location I have wifi cameras set up to monitor the rat activity. I have more than a 1000 videos and no longer bother to record.

I successfully shot gophers(field rats) to 56yards with a Weihrauch model 97 in .177 calibre using Predator pellets. Very flat shooting and 900fps with those 8gr. Pellets. I also have the same rifle in .22. Love 'em.
In comparison to my PCP .25 call rifles that developed 50fpe and more, the HW's are dead quiet.

My $1,000 budget is just for the gun.

Thanks for all of the useful suggestions; I'm going to have to reset my expectations, but that's OK. How about the Umarex Hammer, it's a repeater, kinda. I'd need a vacuum to clean up the victim, but hey. Kidding BTW.

I was stalking my prey last evening with my N V, but closeup is not going to work, which I kinda knew. Once I get the MCX setup, I'll have to use some bait at a decent distance with my night scope. I've also discovered the little buggers are laser shy, so I will go with an IR laser. No, I didn't sell the car to buy it.
