Sounds like fun. No one shooting open sights?
Absolutely!
See my post above.
Last year we had several, including 1 rifle that if I recall was over 100 years old. We also had someone shoot the whole match with a pistol.
This is all about having fun and bringing out some guns that you would not in a usual match and not about the score.

Oh yeah - how could I miss seeing it? LOL HW50 with it's stock open sights.
Apertures are different.

Yep~ That's quite true... However why I just want to stay on the bed in my day off and wife not home only to wait for the time to get up and go pickup my kid from school?! [emoji38] too lazy or just not that being social??
Ken, you look at people from other areas in Canada. They really envy us having well attended regular FT matches.
You should come out and try it, I think you will get hooked like me when Bob W invited me three years ago. There is no turning back now. In your case, all the equipment you need is already in the house.

And if you are going to come to any shoot, The Fudd is a great one!
No pressure of competition, lots of people shooting guns that they don't often use, people shooting with sub-500 guns, open sights, etc.

Just a fun few hours of shooting but still the incredibly satisfying chance to knock down some steel targets and get a sense of what Field Target is about.

I just had a great day with Chris and Rob G testing some targets that we will be seeing for The Fudd next Saturday.
I am going to invoke "Match Director's Discretion" and get a bit creative with the setup - I think that it will be a fun match for everyone.
If anyone was scared off by my comment about "no rangefinders, no straps, etc." do not worry about it - just come out and shoot. We will create a Wile E. Coyote Division so you can strap yourself in and use your usual FT rig if you want. The main thing is to come out and shoot!

Haven't been to ON in a few years, lived in Kingston for a bit (miss the fishing & the old 16'..sigh!)
Sold my sh*tty .270 Winchester back then, to a Winchester sales guy, of all people...

Sounds great Bob! I look forward to seeing you there.
Looks like we will have a good turnout - but we always have room for a few more so everyone come on down!

Only 2 more sleeps to The Fudd 2023!

Thanks for the pictures Tom and also a big thanks for your help setting up.

Tom was the first to arrive and worked pretty much continuously until setup was done!

After all that, he still had enough left in the tank to take first place in Hunter - Piston.

Other top finishers were:
Mike P in Elmer Division - Piston
Marc S in Hunter - PCP
Lanny H in Close-to-Hunter - PCP.

I mentioned after the match that there was a 7-way tie for "Best Naked Shooter" with 7 shooters making perfect scores on this lane. When I think back though, only 1 shooter did it with a springer - and one that I am guessing was running less than 7FPE.

Based on this performance, I am awarding Tom the "Best Naked" as well. (Those of you wondering what the heck I am talking about will have to come back to read the match report!)

Way to go Tom!

I will post the full results and match report tomorrow.

Rob you run the best matches, thanks for the award. BTW, my FWB shoots at 7.7 fpe. It is modded with a Jim Maccari spring.
