It’s time for the annual Fudd!

As the days get shorter and the hunting seasons get going, we return to our annual fun shoot that we know as “The Fudd” on Saturday, October 14 at HAHA. Do not let the weather scare you - the range at HAHA has covered shooting positions so we are good rain or shine!

In the spirit of everyone’s favourite hunter – Elmer Fudd (you know, the guy always on the hunt for Bugs Bunny) – we will all use Hunter (or Close-to-Hunter) rules and scoring.

The idea of this match is to come out and have some fun – maybe use a gun that you have not used for a while, maybe try open sights, bring a friend or two. It would be great to continue to see some more new shooters out.

Several regulars at the Fudd are famous for bringing chilli and other delectables for a meal after the match.
Please let me know if you are coming ASAP so we can plan accordingly.

For those familiar with Hunter – follow the usual Hunter rules including equipment and the standing and kneeling lanes.

For those that usually shoot Open Modified – for this match it will be “Close-to-Hunter” rules. That means:
• No rangefinders
• No using parallax on your scope to rangefind
• No scope set to over 16x
• No fiddling with your knobs
• No fancy straps and jackets
• You can use a monopod or a bipod not attached to the rifle
• You may sit if you wish for the standing and kneeling lanes and we will have special targets for this division

Anyone wishing to go Full Elmer? Try the True-blue Elmer Division – same as both above, but with open sights only!

We will all use Hunter scoring - 2 points for a knockdown, 1 point for a faceplate, 0 for a miss.

This course will be set up a bit easier than usual with larger hit zones and less adventurous yardages given the open sights and lower magnification.

Match Details:
• This will be a 60 shot match with 1 standing and 1 kneeling lane (or not depending on class).
• Gates will open around 8:30 am. Please try to come out early to help set up
• Sight-in range should be available by 9:30 AM
• Shooter's meeting will be held at 10:00 AM
• Match starts at 10:15 AM
• Match fee is $20

Bring boots if you are going to help set up and tear down – it always could be wet and muddy!

Classes for this match:
Hunter Division
· PCP and Piston classes (20 ft/lb. max)

Junior Hunter Class
· if we have some juniors (20 ft/lb. max)

Close-to-Hunter Division
· PCP and Piston classes (20 ft/lb. max)

True-blue Elmer Division
· Open sights only
· PCP and Piston classes (20 ft/lb. max)

Location:

Hamilton Angling & Hunting Association
1317 Alberton Road S.
Alberton, Ont. L9G 4X2

I know someone who has an "old lady" (FWB300) that has some history with the Fudd event, having placed second in the springer division in 2014. This is the perfect event to attend as a first match. Everyone is there for fun and friendship. Maybe something to consider, as you would meet a fair number of folks you are familiar with on this forum.

Absolutely!
See my post above.
Last year we had several, including 1 rifle that if I recall was over 100 years old. We also had someone shoot the whole match with a pistol.
This is all about having fun and bringing out some guns that you would not in a usual match and not about the score.

I cannot think of better therapy for a busy dad and husband, than a day of shooting with a bunch of friends.

Not often, but occasionally, my wife and I would take care of things while the other enjoyed a day away. We both worked, we had two kids that were very involved in competitive sports and cultural activities and whole family activities dominated our social life. One day away, planned well in advance to not interfere with family outings, was a nice reset.

If planned well, it benefits Mom, Dad and the kids. Stress relief and mental health are very important and do not happen accidentally.

Sorry if this seems a little heavy, but the world has a lot of folks that seem burned out because they do not take time to reset.

Plan to be happy.

Yep~ That's quite true... However why I just want to stay on the bed in my day off and wife not home only to wait for the time to get up and go pickup my kid from school?! [emoji38] too lazy or just not that being social??
