Black Powder, that is.
I thought you all might be interested in seeing handguns of a period that is 210 to 233 years ago.
This pistol was made from me by my bro, some years ago. It originally was built as a flintlock, .54 calibre with a barrel I made on my little lathe, from a chunk of
octagonal rifle barrel, in .54 calibre. I use a .526" cast round ball, with a .0223" denim patch and 55gr. 3F. The recoil is very similar to my .44 magnum. The reason
for the "powerful" load, is to get the velocity up so it will shoot reasonably well in the slow rifle twist barrel. Normally, a pistol will have a ROT from 18" to about 24".
Thus, to be competitive, I made up a new .45 cal. fast twist barrel for it with percussion ignition, instead of the flint one.
In the 'case' you can see the pistol with the .45 cal, octagonal barrel and cap-lock mounted, with the flintlock and .54 barrel in the case as well.

Tks, from a rest, the .54 will hold into ab out 2 1/2" at 50 yards, with only the pin domes for a rear sight.
The .45 barrel shoots into an inch. It has standard sights. VERY accurate & 1 1/2" with 220gr. slugs. It only needs 25gr. 3F powder.
Sight on the .54's barrel.
These pistols are a blast to shoot.

Is it technically two pistols because there are two breech plugs?

I'm thinking a 40cal BP pistol is in my future if I can find a decent antique to possibly get relined if not of historical significance.

Both barrels are registered to this pistol.
