Daryl, if I remember correctly I was getting 755FPS on 10 pumps. I’ll probably make another piston adjustment after some serious piston thread inspection. Knowing what I know now, I’d like to extend the piston another .010-.015”. I also feel the air intake hole to the pump needs to be a bit larger to increase flow.

Couldn't you remove the internals of the valve, or lock the exhaust valve open, and then set the piston clearance?

Grantmac, that is definite a possibility but I find removing the pump easier and quicker then gutting the whole low tube just to remove the valve. Two bolts and one pin and the pump is removed.

Well seems the assembly oils are slowly blowing out and the velocity @8pumps is now 720’s with 10.34gr. Even with a heavier then desired trigger it still is minute of squirrel at 30yds. Now to do more work on the trigger.

So tonight I removed the trigger blade so I could remove the set screw, I find this set screw doesn’t hold its set position. I replaced it with a panhead screw (m3*.5) and slowly sanded the head thickness down until the safety would work properly, now it can’t change position as it bottomed out against the trigger blade. Now the trigger has very little movement and sits around 2lbs-9oz. I obvious can’t have a light trigger due to a pumpers design but now I’m happier, hopefully this helps tighten up my groups a bit.

Well I can’t say its been too much, as I’m nearing full power speeds at 8 pumps. When done I hope to have 750-800 fps at 8 pumps running 10.34gr leads. I should of chromed this ‘ out of the box’ but sticker was 850fps @15 pumps and I’m guessing thats probably with a 7gr lead pellet. If I shoot my JSB 7.33 at 8 pumps I’m probably near sticker speeds now with 8 pumps. 8pumps vs 15 pumps is quiet a difference to someone with Lyme.

One thing I found to be different in the DFMK2 compared to the stormrider is the barrel band on the DFMK2 does not fasten to the stock, so if you forget to tight it to the barrel and lower tube the open sight could slightly shift left to right. I don’t have open sights on mine but I do tension my barrels using a carbon Fiber sleeve. So what I did was install a set screw into the barrel band where they usually bolt down to the stock now it can’t shift.

Well I thought I’d do some chrony work using the JSB 7.33 as that’s the lightest pellet I have in inventory:

3 pumps= 575
8 pumps = 795
10 pumps = 830

I can honestly say this rifle will max out at 10 pumps, maybe 9 after I make one more adjustment. I’m not looking for more power, my goal is to reduce pumps needed to achieve full power. That’s close to a 33% increase in pump efficiency compared to OEM setup, we’ll worth the efforts.

Yes, the Dragonfly is an all round great pumper.

I got out this morning to do some pellet testing. I tested JSB 7.33, 10.34 heavy, 8.44, 10.34hades. At ten pumps this rifle is giving me 1/2” groups at 30yds using the 10.34gr heavy, which I’m more then happy with. The trigger is and always will be heavier then I like but it has very little creep before it breaks. I’m also running/ testing the new 3D printed ( orange and black) magazines which seems to be a huge upgrade from the OEM mags, much nicer groups, smoother loading and of course 12 shots instead of 9.

Like all the snowpeak airguns I own, with some effort and TLC they can become very amazing plinkers. If anyone is on the fence about purchasing one of these, get one. Great plan B for those long walks in the woods hunting or a weekend at the cottage and off grid living.

So the barrel band is complete, as it’s been holding zero perfectly. I was worried things may shift during the pumping process, as it’s alot of vibration not many other guns get to experience.

Well I love the look without any open sights. I swapped trigger guards from the CR600W, so I no longer have any plastic parts on this Dragonfly.

I require a bipod option on all my rifles. So I mounted a short aluminum pic-rail to the Dragonfly.

Last I looked D&L Airguns had some. They only come PAL rated from what I’ve noticed.

So its been a day or so that this Dragonfly is no longer blasting out residual oils from the last assembly. So I thought I’d give a quick chrony

7.33gr- 860fps -10 pumps = 12ft lbs
10.34gr- 770fps - 10 pumps= 13.6ft lbs

It now has its sticker velocity at 10 pumps. But it’s still retaining a bit of air after the shot. So I may open the transfer port/barrel and valve to 3.5mm to allow more to escape. Adding hammer spring tension will be my last resort.

I really can’t say anything bad about this model. Like most budget guns it needs some TLC and elbow grease to refine them. Perfect for those who like the mechanical part of airgunning and you don’t have to be a top shelf mechanic to work on these simple rifles.

Like most budget Chinese guns the bluing is not comparable to euro quality. I found the Dragonfly really got scuffed with so much disassembly / reassembly so I removed the bluing and used a flat black spray paint on the lower tube. Also the pump mechanism hits the tube hard and leaves l some marking. So I’ll have to polish down the high spots on the pump before the final coat.
