After using soap and water meany times to try and find a leak. I purchased a bottle of this leak detector. The leak was very slow, after a weak of sitting I could see movement on the gauge. I had eliminated a valve leak by using a barrel balloon. This leak detector is mush thicker in viscosity than water, so it clings very well to the surface. I was able to detect a leak on the fill foster thread that was on the side against the gauge.

those leak detectors have been around for a long time its what pipe fitters use
only difference from the soap solution is it has added glycerin to help with bubble retention

It did not go hard, but I wiped it off right after detection. I used it on every connection so a lot of cleaning was involved after detection. Flowed very well but had great adherence.
