Most pellets have the head between the land and groove diameter, and the skirt larger than the groove diameter.... It gets swaged smaller on chambering, and then expands on firing.... The exact fit depends on the barrel, as some are much looser than others, there being no "standard" sizes for airgun barrels....

I was hoping that the 12.5gr. slugs would shoot well in the HW80. It hates them, although they fit nicely.
It's best (favourite) pellet so far is the 8.64gr. H&H Trophy Match RN. I put a red-dot on it for testing next Sunday, indoors.

What is the rifling direction in airgun, right-hand or left-hand?

I shot 150yd in 3mph ish wind with gust from the right. I noticed a gust would push the poi to the left and low. Momentary calm would be high-right. Looks like a left-hand screw to me.

Did you look at the rifling to actually see the direction?
The reason I mention this, is that between you and the target, there could have been wind from a different direction entirely
as in low right, left or tail wind to give increased elevation.
This is common around here. With flags out, I've seen 6 different wind direction between the firing line and the 200meter butts at our range
and 3 different directions, complete swaps, in the first 100 meters.
It's virtually impossible to sort these out, for plinkers like me. I shoot straight through these and oft times, there is no drift, but sometimes weird elevation.
Winds closest to the firing line, have more effect on impact location, than those further out it seems.

I'm going to try looking down the barrel. It is not straight forward with my rifle. It has built-in modulator that obscure the view.

Shining a light, or having a white piece of paper at the open breech, reflecting light and peering down the bore towards it, should work, muzzle break or not.

With some struggling I was able to make out the riflings. Goodness they are shallow! Right-handed.

But wait. I was shooting pellets, with CE behind CG. Now it makes sense. Cross wind from the right pushes the pellet nose down, because of gyroscopic precession, and hence poi shifts to low left. All good.

3mph wind. I had to put in 8-12moa windage for soda can target at 150yd. I managed to hit a few times. Hit rate was about 10%, versus 60-70% with .22lr.

Interesting. Charts show left and high, from a right hand wind.
Rifling is typically right handed, usually unless otherwise stated.

For bullets, CE is ahead of CG. The chart is correct. For pellet, CE is behind CG.

The chart is from UK. I think they have left hand riflings over there. I'm pretty sure the smle in .303 spin to the left. That would explain it.

Yes, the SMLE has a left hand rifling direction. I had to check mine. My Brocock in .22 also has a left hand twist.

Not good as it was hard on that sight's innards. The dot kept going out and the adjustment went screwy.
Off the gun, it seems to be OK, so I put it back on the PP700 and it's fine, again.
I've mounted a Discovery scope on the HW80 and will shoot it at the indoor range tomorrow. I hope that scope is better than the last
Discovery scope I tried on it. Had a lens inside turn sideways & I can't find the bill of sale for the ruined scope. I was sure it was supposed to be springer safe.
Waiting to hear from Gord if he needs a ride.
Yesterday, went up to 16 and sunny. Could have shot outside easily. So far today, only +3, but supposed to be 16 by 4PM.
