Did some playing with my PB's this afternoon and regret not taking my sandbags and adjustable rest to the club. My dad gave me a 1949 vintage Brno Hornet with a set trigger and a Lyman Junior Targetspot scope on it. I tried some time ago to get it to work with cast bullets, but the best I could do was an 8" group at 100 yards, so on the back burner it went for about 4 years. I took it out to the range today to reset the scope back to normal with the ammo my dad loaded many years ago. It took only a few shots and things were back to normal. The only rest I had, was a 4x4 post with a "V" notch that is used for rough sight-ins, and that is why the group is not as tight as it could be. The group is 5 shots at 50 yards, the dot is a Shoot N See 1" diameter, and I was near jumping out of my seat until the last shot which I broke high, sigh........ Next time out, I intend to remember to bring the whole nine yards with me. I had another group that was looking just as nice, but I again pulled one shot low and to the left. Still, for its age and the age of the reloads, the grouping is nothing to sneeze at. Back to the reloading bench I will be going very soon.

was it good enough to win?? the best from the first relay was 3 fours. Still cleaning the rifle, but I didn't start until very late. No work until after the new year.

I have an Erma lever action .22 that I used to do the same thing with. The way I looked at it, with every shot I took, I made another target, lol. One afternoon, I sat in my car, waiting for a friend to come back from picking his wife up at the hospital, and plinked for well over an hour at .22 cases, Berdan primed (not worth reloading unless they are hen's teeth) cases, and a whole lot of other plinking targets. The cheap scope is still on it, that was on top of the rifle when I did that. I seldom missed a target. Hmmmmmmmmm, I should take it out one day and see what it can do off a rest.
