Welp not having any luck today. Can't get to shooting because now the bear trap arm is severely rubbing against the main tube. I'm unable to cock it at all now. As far as I know the 22 is unusable now. If someone wants it for parts let me know. 177 is up for sale too. It still functions.

Plugged the hole on the 177 piston and am only getting 450 fps on 7.8grain domed so I didn't even bother to shoot with it.

I'll be looking for a more quality rifle than this. I have alot of technical knowledge but I'm just tired of trying to make these things work. Anyone have recommendations? Is it even worth getting a gun sub 500fps? Getting the feeling only pal guns would be good for FT.

First pic is the maximum I can cock it.

I shot my first FT match with an off-the-shelf Crosman Optimus .177 with just a stronger spring to take it up to about 800 fps.
I did not do very well but still had a blast and got hooked on FT.
I next upgraded to an HW50s (from the forum store) and shot it until I found a used TX200 come up.
I still have and enjoy shooting all those guns.
I also have a couple sub 500FPS Phantoms and Optimus and shoot them as well.
I look forward to seeing you next weekend at HAHA.
If you do not have a gun figured out just send me a PM and we will figure something out.

Hahah right on Rob! I was thinking of doing the same but about a month ago I moved onto co2 mainly. I get cases of 500 cylinders from China [emoji23]. Progressing towards a PCP.

Thing is nobody wants to catch a firearms charge with a overpowered pellet gun. Technically it would be illegal if I owned or brought out a said pellet rifle I'm still waiting for my pal. I don't even own trigger locks yet. Sad thing then is it's only legal to shoot at a range. I couldn't imagine going to a shooting range and being like "hi sir can I shoot my BB guns here" lol.

Maybe I should tape a few hand warmer packs on the chaser and keep co2 in a thermos [emoji28]

Standard FT distances = min of 10 yards, max of 55 yards.
With a sub-500 gun the biggest challenge will be with the trajectory. Some quick math (courtesy of Chairgun) says that at 55 yards you can likely expect about a foot of drop so you would need to hold about a foot over the target and it will take about 0.42 seconds to know if you got it!
Having said that, a good number of targets will be between 10 and 30 yards where your trajectory will be within a couple inches depending upon your setup and zero distance.
There are a few shooters that come out with sub-500 guns and do well on shorter targets, just do not beat yourself up for not dropping many of the farther ones.
