I was just looking through my CSSA E-mail and saw as add for "The Marksman Club out of Oshawa, Ont.
WOW
"Requirements for new members are:
 Attend an interview with a board member of TMC, prior to
acceptance in the training course
 Restricted PAL (RPAL)
 Copy of RPAL
 Completed membership forms with 2 references
 $175.00 non refundable fee for training course
 Mandatory CSSA membership
 Copy of CSSA membership card
Cost breakdown are as follows:
 Training Fee $175.00
 Initiation Fee $500.00
 Yearly Dues $450.00 (these fees are prorated per month @ $37.50)
 Family memberships are $600.00 yearly. (these fees are prorated per
month @ $50.00 a month)
 ALL family members must have a CSSA membership.
 Door Card $20.00
(NOTE: taxes are included in above fees)

This, for a 25 yard indoor range for handguns and handgun ctg./carbines.
So- first year = $450 + $500 + $175.00 = $1,125, then $450.00 every year afterwards.

YIKES!

My own senior membership here in PG just went up to $75.00 per year - indoor air or CO2 powered guns in the winter,
Of course the 2 separate outdoor ranges are open for shooting 12 months of the year.
1 in town with handgun shotgun(trap), rifle CF and RF & black powder to 200meters only.
1 out of town with handgun, black powder, silhouette, rifle to 1,400metres.
I guess we should stop, think about it and count our blessings. :D :drinkers:

QUESTION!

What are your gun club memberships & locations?

I did not re-up my $500 membership this year. I couldn't get out on the good days last year then the 45 min. drive was also an issue. They must have declining enrolment and are now offering a 10 day pass for $250. Some of the rules at my local ranges include 100 shot supervised days and another has 500 shots supervised day.

SGC is a private - shareholders club.
The pre-requisit is to own (approx $24K) or rent/lease (approx $800/year) a club share.
Starting from there the initial signup $500
The yearly membership I think it is a $550
Safety course fee $450
Additional training courses fee for specific ranges averaging $150 ea.
14 ranges with distances between 15 to 300 meters, and 4 or 5 need a specific certificate.
So just saying you don't cry.

Toronto International club cost pretty much the same minus there no shares. And longest shooting distance is 50 M

Wait time for both is several years with a lot of luck.

Crazy prices.
Just checked the club close to where I used to live in South Western Ontario.
The Crumlin Sportman's Association with just over 1,000 members.
3384 Gore Road, London Ont. It used to be just off Shaw Side Road.

The club here in Port was about $115 annual and I believe they paid my OFAH federation for the 1st year. They shoot trap and skeet two Sundays a month, except July and August I believe. Air guns are basically whenever during daylight hours and not interfering with their shotgun meets.

Is that Port Colborne, Port Burwell, Port Credit, Port Dalhousey, Port Alma, Port Bruce or one of the other 18 cities in Ontario starting with Port?
$115.00 is inexpensive for a non-senior.

Sorry Daryl, it's Port Colborne. People around here tend to just say Port and I wasn't considering there's 1 million other Port something towns.

$115 is a pretty good deal, just need to consider that for powder burners, the city by law restricts them to just 2 Sundays a month and only shotguns for trap and skeet. Also, you have to pay for clays. I don't think they're really turning a profit on clays but just something else to consider. It's pretty awesome as far as air guns are concerned, but limited for powder burners. No centre fire / rim fire rifles etc. They are a group and I think it's more about the friendly skeet and trap competition rather than just a range to ring steel at. They are also a conservation club that raises walleye and does some fishing

Interesting. When I was growing up in South Western Ontario, discharge of firearms on Sundays was
prohibited and it was a Provincial law. I was surprised upon moving to Sask. in 1972, for basic training,
no such law was in effect, nor in B.C. where I moved in Oct. same year.
