Picked up a Webley junior, just needed a good cleaning.only had to fit a hurricane breach seal to make it functional, ended up sanding about .025 off the thickness, dia.fit perfectly. Shooting 290ft/sec,surprisingly.
Good project for a rainy day

I had 2 Seniors for a few years, but owing to almost never shooting them, I sold the scruffier one so an eager young fellow could have one too. The one I kept is so close to mint condition after 70+ years, I just love getting it out of a drawer now and then to hold it. Nothing else feels like a classic era Webley pistol.

Image

I had a Tempest, early 1990's UK production (before they sold production to Turkey) in .22". Did some tuning on it. I could hold about a 2" group at 10 metres with that, one-handed, which is just far too sloppy for my tastes considering I have no problem holding about a 3/4" group with my Pardini K12. It's too bulky, lacking the elegance of the earlier steel models. Sold that to another local. This is another one in .177" which I gave to my little brother, after carving grip panels from some koa wood (Hawaiian) which a friend gave me in the 1980's. Feels much better in the hand with properly shaped wood grips, and the colour warms up the overall look, makes the plastic not stand out so much.

Image

My brother found a .177" Mark I in decent condition at a pawn shop in New Westminster years ago for $175.

So what I have left is a Senior and a Junior, the Junior a smoothbore 1950's model in .177". It's actually the most fun to shoot. I've cleaned each of these, polished internals a little, swapped mainsprings (there are a couple of UK suppliers still), put in new breech seals, even new cocking linkage springs (as it happens, a spring from a floppy disc sliding cover fits PERFECTLY!), and have managed to get the Junior up to 310fps with 7.5gr pellets. The Senior shoots at 300fps with 11.9gr Hobby pellets.

Image

The only time I ever got my ex-wife to shoot an airgun was while camping at a hot springs. Lounging in folding camping chairs, happily drunk on a couple of glasses of Cardinal Zin red wine, I was plinking with the Junior at some of the abundant pine cones and a couple of bottle caps at about 7 or 8 yards. She said "let me try" and I was stunned for a moment, but then collected my wits and loaded the thing and handed it to her carefully, explaining how to line up the sights. She's Japanese, and very thoroughly indoctrinated with anti-gun nonsense, so this was amazing. She shot 3 times... and I realized I'd used up the last of the pellets I brought. What kind of idiot brings too few pellets??? Oh well, she shot it, didn't hit anything, but it made her smile. Was nice. Never got her to try a gun again. She said "Maybe some day, if we buy some land..." Well that didn't happen, and the marriage failed after 22 years. Oh well.

THEY did a good job on that bird's head gripped one. Looks like you traded grips with the bottom revolver.

I also have a Junior and a cased CO2 Webley revolver (nickel). The Junior does have a sad story when I asked the seller for its provenance.

The bottom one is the CO2 version, all stock. The Middle one is an original mk6 with most of the finish worn off. The top one is a mk2 up graded with a mk6 barrel and cylinder, the birds head grips are the originals.
