Never seen that happen before in the middle of a fps test.

I see some blue sky in your picture,maybe just a false reading because you didn’t have the diffusers on.

That's a good point it was moving clouds and sunny patches today....a glitch of some kind for sure...must be related to light conditions because battery is new...

I've been chronographing Cf rifles, RF rifles, RF handguns, CF pistols and revolvers, muzzleloading rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers, air rifles, bows and arrows since 1976 and
sometimes you get weird readings. Sometimes you can figure out why, other times, not.
Even a shock wave can sometimes trigger "sky screens" that have "eyes" that are looking upwards. Much depends on the atmospheric conditions at the time of shooting. With the old
printed screens the bullet had to pierce, less phantom readings were made. These did not give out a direct reading, but used a yes/no switch for each number in the velocity, compared
against a book chart. So long ago now, I don't even remember exactly how it worked.
