Ok, my uncle recently died  and he was an avid gun user. It wasnt a sudden death, but he was too sick to even write a full will. Unfortunatly, he didnt leave his guns (or anything) to anyone. his wife got everything and sold most of it at an auction. The guns however, the governmnet wanted back! My cousin (his son) says, "well f@#$ that" and took them home to hide them. He had a .22, and 2 shotties. Is this charge the same as illegal possession of firearms, even though they were registered at somepoint? Yes. I, of course, given the opportunity, would have done the same thing. This is out in the country too (WAY out) so i cant imagine he'll get caught. So basically, what im asking is it possible to get ammo anywhere? as me and him are getting together soon to do some pest control on his home. he wants to shoot the powderburners after we finish, if he can find ammo. Could he even just buy some empty casings and make his own bullets. (i know he couldnt make shot shells! lol) He's 34, so would the penalty be harsher if he somehow got caught than if he was under 18...?

Read this: (I have no idea if it contains the information you need or not)

IMHO I think your brother shouldn't be hiding the firearms. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry about your loss.

No PAL+guns=BAAAD. Have a talk with him, tell him he's just being stupid. Shells? Yea, They're pretty easy to get in most cities.

Tell him to get his PAL first of all.

Are the firearms registered? If not he most likely won't have a problem registering them after he has his PAL. Remember, there is also an amnesty right now so if they aren't registered he is fine there.

Just get the PAL, you can't legally buy ammunition without it. It would be stupid to go and risk charges by making it obvious you are using the firearm without the appropriate license.

you should definitly tell him to get his pal or find someone in your family who has one for the time being. then he could apply for his pal. there could be some harsh charges

Also, make sure you follow all the safe storage regulations, regardless of whether he is licensed yet.

Play it safe, don't mention the firearms to anyone who doesn't already know about them, don't display them, and don't use them. The last thing you want is a 10 year firearms prohibition handed to you.

Enough with the free legal advice....please consult legal counsel...never try to seek legal info from internet forums.
