Just get one and add it to your kit Darrel, then go visit your local detachment and see what they have to say.
Good luck in your collecting of paraphanalia.
Cheers,

Starter pistols are legal as long as they're used as they are intended to...no special paperwork required. Better sporting goods shops will carry them. I think LeBaron may also carry them as well for dog training purposes.

They are considered replicas so will they be banned soon? The govenment is already raidng airsoft retailers only because they are "replica firearms". I heard that SWAT raided and shut down a place down town TO because they had starter pistols.

No it actually happened about 10 years ago. The place was called "king sol outfitters". I read an article about them being raided because they sold starter pistols. I remember reading that some of the store employees knew how to convert the pistols to fire live ammunition.

The owners/employees of King Sol were convicted of illegally selling guns and gun parts into the US.
Military arms which have been supplied by the US Government to friendly foreign powers are not allowed back into the US.
King Sol were stripping army surplus Garand rifles and shipping parts packages back to associates in the US.
They were also shipping components to enable the conversion of 8 shot block magazine Garands into guns with 20+ shot removable magazines.
They lost their firearms dealer licenses.

Was always a neat store to visit and stock up on pellets...seem to recall they had lots of starter pistols and blanks.....

.Here's a pic of the place taken about a week before the sign was removed....Nostalgic....
