I just wanted to share the great news. I'm off to a hunting trip, but I'll update with pics, accuracy, shot strings, etc. when I get back in a week or so.

I can tell you one thing.... it looks great :D

Glad to hear it finally arrived! I'm still enjoying the S410 you sold to fund that purchase...in fact I like it so much I just received my new S400 in the mail

ok, I wasn't able to get any shot strings or benchresting out, but here are some quick impressions:

Likes:
150-200 shots per charge (depending on power level. Mine is adjustible around 19-24 FPE).

Damn accurate. Test target below. I didn't get a chance for any benchrest, but shooting off my knee I can repeatably hit the small birdie airgun shilouette target at 50 yards in a bit of a breeze.

Design. Everything is simple and idiot proof. You don't need to do anything "just right" for it to work. It just works. You screw the bottle in and it positively locks up. The working of the bolt is positive and quick. The stock is tall, which makes shooting offhand very easy if you use the olympic stance. The magazine was a bit confusing at first, but once you load it right once your set forever. Never had a problem either, they always index and work the way they're supposed to.

Aesthetics. The stock may not be a pretty as my old S410, but overall I really like the look of the MFR. It's something that's really different than what's commonly out there (At least in Canada anyways).

Bottle system. This is the single biggest reason I got the rapid to begin with. I got an S410, and while it was very nice, it frigen pissed me off carrying around a handpump, or worse, an air tank. I mean if your shooting off a back porch, than it`s great, but if youve got to bring everything out to shoot in the woods somewhere, than it`s a real pain in the buttock. Now the bottle system, coupled with a very high shot count (because the the regulator), means I can go out and shoot 300-400 shots with my two bottles and call it a day bringing only a small backpack and the rifle.

Trigger. My god it`s amazing. Fully adjustible. Definately one of the best triggers I have ever shot. Even if the gun shot like crap, I`d shoot it just for the wonderful trigger pull.

Dislikes:

No pressure gauge. I'm told though that because of the regulator, you can't have one, at least with this design anyways. Not too big of a problem though, I just watch for a POI drop (which is VERY quick). Once I chrony though, I'll be able to figure out exactly how many shots I have on my power level, and just count out the number of pellets.

Not too quiet. At least in stock form. There is an easy and effective solution though. After that`s done it`s like all the other shrouded PCP`s out there.

The receiver has a tendecy to shift in the stock. I noticed this when I pick it up, you feel a bit of movement. This airgun could have really used a second contact point in the stock; the single hex screw is simply not enough. It does not effect accuracy though, and the scope is paralax free and slight reciever shifiting does not make a difference.

Anyhow, I purchased this rifle from Alan Zasadny in the US. He is a world class Airgunsmith; all the champions head to him for his work. He has no website, no email, no fax.... his work speaks for it's self and he is constanly swamped with work. He is very difficult to get a hold of, but in the end he is a very nice person to deal with and his work makes it all worth it.

My Rapid was hamonized, the regulator was tuned and an extension added, I had a stock strengthener added, the rifle was extensively tested and accurized, and than all packed up and sent to me. The work is done for free if you buy from him, all you pay for is the materials.

Now for the eye candy....

Accessories:
extra bottle with bottle cap (prevents air leakage, and protects threads from grit)
Single shot tray (came with the rifle)
barrel weight (Alan threw it in for me)
12 shot magazine
Image

10 shot test target .595 -.22 =.375 = 3/8 of an inch.
Now with a couple 5 shot groups in good conditions I`m sure I`d have no problem bringing that down to quarter inch or better.

That`s about it for now. When I get a chance to chrony, I`ll definately update.
If you have any questions about importing the MFR, PM me.

Thanks for the comprehensive report and pics Nicorette! I've always heard great things about the Rapids and can now see why our American brothers rave about them. My only concern is the fact you had to sell your AA410 to fund the Rapid...I guess that kind of quality doesn't come cheap! :(

Well you get what you pay for. I'm not in this hobby to save money either though.

I got it when the dollar was on par so it wasn't too bad. Overall by the time you pay customs and everything you can expect around 2K.

Nikko nighteater 4-16x44.

It's a step up from the centerpoint/leapers, and it's the only one I could find that had a side parallax that would go under 25 yards.

Beautiful rifle! Is the barrel shrouded? You mentioned that it's not exactly quiet, but the barrel diameter looks huge !

Yes it's shrouded... but it's not baffled.... The stock shroud does nothing without adjustments. But that's the way it comes from the factory.

It goes down to 10 yards. I got it when I was in the US, so I wouldn't know if there was any Canadian dealers.

Ok, here are the numbers. I was using the light 14.3 gr. JSB's so the FPS deviation would be higher than say if I was using the 21.1 gr. Kodaiks.

I was shooting with a 10-15 mph wind the whole day, so my groups were not great, most were around 1-2 inches at 50 yards. My best 5-shot group for the day was 3/8".

If someone could get this into graph form, it would be greatly appreciated...

Total curve: 142 shots
I filled from 3300 PSI. AZ told me to fill from 3500 PSI, but my tank is low on pressure, so 3300 is the max I can fill to right now.
