I have two HW97K rifles - one in .177, and the other in .25. Both are awesome shooters, and I have the highest opinion of them. Pretty much holds true of any of the HW rifles.

The HW97 does not come equipped with open sights (from the factory), so a scope must be fitted. They will accept most of the commonly available mounting rings - either one piece, or two piece.

i have a 22 cal in the blue -grey laminate it is a great shooter as are all hw guns i have shot.
and like said you have to mount a scope because no sights are provided.
i have a 4x12 bushnell on mine in a one piece mount works great!

Hi Italo,
No, I haven't chronied it - been too busy just shootin' it.
I'll try to run a few pellets over the chrony in the next day or two, and post the info here.

Italo,
Some chony numbers on the .25 HW97K, as promised.

The following velocities are the average of a ten shot group:

1 - Diana magnum Domes - 580 FPS.

2 - H&N Match - 576 FPS.

3 - H&N Hollow Point - 531 FPS.

4 - H&N Pointed Diabolo - 529 FPS.

5 - Beeman Ram Jet - 540 FPS.

6 - Beeman Silver Arrow - 522 FPS.

7 - Beeman Crow Magnum - 503 FPS.

Thank you again very much. I guess those Diana Domes are not to bad at 580fps. My Webley Stingray did 556fps with the Diana Domes. I sold it. An American tuned it and it was dead calm..no movement it the shot cycle. Felt like a pcp.

Two 97Ks... wood stock and blue lam. stock. Both .177, both with Hawke side AO scopes in Sportsmatch mounts.
Love 'em to death... I'd sell a powder burner before I sold a 97K.

Cheers,
C

Does the laminate come in any other colours than blue? Something earthy would be more discreet in the bush if I wanted to poke a hole in a rabbit. The 77k that sold on the EE this week piqued my interest.

I'm sure you could have something custom made, but I believe the only colour from Weihrauch is blue. I am not a hunter, but I don't think you'd want to haul around the extra weight of the laminate version anyways.

Most of my club fellows feel this rifle is possibly the best HW springer ever, with only some sentimental attachments going to its earlier equal the 77.

I really love the 50 though. In England we only get 12ftlbs max power allowance, thus anything bigger (and potentially more powerful) is surplus to requirements (in money terms and weight) IMHO. Stll a very nice too though and superior to the budget 57 pop up loading breach which has proven to be flawed.
