I was shooting at the Grand Prix this weekend!!! Silly me!!!
Completely amazed by the organization, number and quality of shooters, camaraderie and the marvelous guns!
It was a tremendous experience - I shot much worse than usual, but had a lot of fun,
made new friends, and above all leaned a great deal! Kudos to the Organizers and many volunteers.

This is a view of the shooting gallery (The grand Ball Room) with its 80 targets before the start.

I dropped by on Sunday....just missed your shooting, but good to chat with you again. A very impressive event, and even more impressive were the shooters. Was hoping to see Cibles display, but they were not there on Sunday. It was good to see there were a couple guys shooting from wheelchairs. I gather there were a lot more on Sat. Nice to see that is was accessable

I just don't understand the serious hardware for a short range target...

Put a very small dot on a page, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence and try to hit it consistently shooting a rifle offhand. It is not as easy as it looks.

Why does someone spend millions developing a dragster to go a mere quarter or eighth mile?

We all choose what we like I guess. Its seems worth it to those involved.

Mac has already described how tiny the "bullseye" is on the regulation 10M target, and as a result, the scoring generally requires the use of magnified gauge to be able to properly score the targets. The difference between first place and 10th place could be a difference of only a few thousandths of an inch.

As with any application that requires the utmost precision, the "serious hardware" seen here is simply the correct tool for the job.

Beretto : it was good to see you shooting but I walked on after a bit, I seemed to be making you nervous. Missed Cibles as well but it is definitely a case of gun envy, there are some serious rigs on the line. I watched one pistol shooter who didn't need more than a postage stamp it was most impressive. Spent some $$ at the CSSA booth and guess what? I won the savage rifle!!!! Money well spent.

Congratulations alaus24 in winning the Savage rifle. That's great. Actually you did not make nervous I was happy to see you.
I was having some problem with variations in force of shots my gun and was wondering if I should ask to go and try to fix it.
Sometimes was going BAM!!! Other times Pfffttt. Disconcerting!!! Took it apart when I got home, see nothing wrong, don't know why was doing that. Cleaned and re-lubed it, will see how it goes.
I was also happy to see uglyduck. You guys are very good and should have been shooting, but I would advise to use a pre-pressurized airgun, 60 shots at one target each shot, with the heavy Izzy, single hand, is a bit tiring, then you loose accuracy. I only seen another 46M there, everyone else seem to be using pre-charged aluminium light guns.

Thanks for appreciating the post 187_cuteness.
Nick_Lee: Mac and Suprmatic gave you the right answer. You should go and see next year, It is amazing. Free entrance to visit.

Is there a "running target" event? If so, how popular is it compared to the standard 10m? I'm asking because my son and daughter love shooting their moving target but not so much the still ones...especially a paper bullseye.

Brent.

Running Target haven't been shot the CAGP for several yrs, its not a very popular event even due to the specialize equipments involved, AFAIK there were only a handful of shooters in Canada participate, after 2004, this event was droped by the Olympic game, further hastenits decline, although it still quite popular in Europe and ISSF still held sanction matches.
