So the HW45 is a kicker? especailly considering the power limitations of a spring gun?

Have you shot a Zoraki yet?

What caliber? Will you need a barrel for it?

Eeeeh! is Walter offering barrels for the Zor? Mines coming in .22, I may require a .177 if I don't like the one I have...lol. But I need an 18" .22 barrel for my Condor first.

I shot many springer pistols since 1980, even the LP8 magnum and Browning 800 with anti-recoil, I never realy like any of them, they all have a tendency to jump out of your hands and just to big, except for the over lever style. I like the Senior I recently acquired small and a breeze to shoot this is mainly due to its low power I suppose but you need a firm grip on it otherwise it shoots all over the place. My 2 cents

Ther BSA Scorpion is a moose of a pistol. Apparently, the little BSA Buccaneer carbine is based on the same receiver tube. The Buc looks like something that would be nice to own. I haven't shot one since the 1980s.

I've got 2 Scorpions in .177; one dates to the mid 70s, the other to the mid 80s. They have a fair bit of jump when firing, but next to nothing in terms of spring twang. I have not been able to do a side-by-side comparison of a Scorpion and an HW 45, but my memory tells me that the HW was less 'snappy' in its recoil. I would think velocities in 177 should be similar, if the Scorpion in question was not detuned. My older one is hotter, and shoots around 515 fps with 8.2s. I have heard of them hitting the high 500s, but neither of mine do. They are very accurate pistols, once you acclimatize to the weight and recoil. It took me years to be able to shoot an SSP as well as the Scorpions. Wonderful pistols, in my view.

The Buccaneer! too bad they didn't make it for long, scorpion tube with meteor barrel and a thumb hole synthetic stock, now that would be one I would like to had to my gun cabinet.

Owned all the variations of Scorpions incl the sometimes overlooked Shadow Carbine version.
The 45 will utterly trounce any Scorpion owing to its rearward moving piston (as with all barrel over cylinder designs) which is easier to control, even more so when the BSA has an extra 4 inches stuck out in front. A real brute of a pistol.

However, far from being the end of the story, the Scorpion could be had in stocked options, shown by Todd above, where it could be controlled like a regular air rfile, or better. The Shadow carbine (slightly shortened version of the Buccanear could do 1/2 inch groups at 15 metres with a light tune up and was a superb ratting tool but the Buccannear, with longer barrel was even better. The Scorpion could also be comfortably tuned to about 100fps more than the 45 but was illegal in England unless in these stocked versions.

As a point of interest, it was never clearly defined if the Shadow was a pistol or rifle in England which saw its rapid removal due to kids running around with 7ftlb semi pistols.
I never knew why BSA dropped the wonderful Buccanear which could hit a thumb tack every time at 10 metres.

Pleasure...maybe someone can find a pic of the old Shadow Carbine. It was a Black stock fitted to a std stock Scorpion.

I currently own the HW45 and the BSA scorpion in 22 cal. i also own the webley tempest as well. The BSA scorpion is a big bulky and heavy handgun. its hard to control cause of the recoil and weight distribution. So the groupings are not good. I had it cronied and it did 430 fps, so its roughly the same as a Hw 45. The Hw is a sweet shooter with a nice trigger. The only reason why i didn't get rid of it is because of its craftmenship. Its built like a tank, with a bunch of forgings, and milled surfaces. sorta like a real gun. BTW there is a BSA for sell in ontario. heres the link
