This has fell out twice, not sure how but it did, I have new ones on the way. When I look at it that little piece of metal around it, I only have about a qaurter of it left, seems the rest has chipped off.

Could this be a reason i'm not getting a little higher FPS?

A bit confused. What little bit of metal around it? The pin should go into a neat little hole made for it in the hammer. One part going into another. Is yours shimmed somehow, or what exactly do you mean by a little piece of metal with part missing?

That is a good sign.If you're doing enough shooting to wear out your hammer pin....you're having a lot of fun with your gun.I shoot my guns so much I've been through a couple pins now.

So the little flange is chipped away? Wow, haven't encountered that. Probably put over 15,000 pellets through my 2240. Pin works just fine.

The flange!!! Thank you! A lot of fun and a lot of tuning, never seen it before either.

I'll snap a pic when i get the new ones!

This guy is selling stainless steel ones...http://www.alchemyairwerks.com/store/c4 ... _Room.html

Yup, that's a broken flange alright. Now you've got me wondering why on earth it'd break? Is there something unusual in your setup? Perhaps the hammer's travelling too far and the pin is striking the end of its slot in the tube, causing it to tilt very hard as the part just above the flange hits steel? If that's it, for whatever reason (too weak a valve spring?), I'd go to the Dremel and carving out the slot another few millimetres to see if the damage to pins stops. In my own 2240 I lengthened the slot quite a bit, as I wanted to make a shorter valve stem and putting those together with other changes get a shorter, crisper release of air. It's worked out nicely. Haven't had the slightest signs of damage to my original pin's flange.

2 reasons that happens. 1 too strong a hammer spring. 2 slamming into the cocking slot end.

Yeah, well, that is an awful lot of pellets... but probably 13,000 of those were through an F1 Chrony as I tried all manner of tuning setups and relentlessly tested and recorded chart after chart. Cutting my teeth in the PCP game, learning the parameters of all the variables, unregulated then regulated, pre and post SSG. Now it's settled down to be my son's rifle spitting out Hobby pellets when we go to Mission. That number's impressive or foolish, sure, but it pales in comparison to the number I shot through my K10 and then K12 Pardinis during a few years of training and competitions. Over 70,000 between them. Of course with 7gr pellets the bucket fills a lot less quickly than with JSB Exacts in .22".

Kim; I'd agree about the spring entirely... except for my own experience using the Powermax-supplied hard spring with my HiPAC for many months before going to a regulator at between 800 and 900 PSI. That spring was so hard that I went through several high grade 10-32 bolts as the core of the cocking knob, and two 1/4" drill rod bolts made for the thing, the hardness of the spring causing these to bend and fail. Sore index finger besides. After the regulator of course I no longer needed the hard spring to crack open the 3,000psi on the valve. Tuning sure got easier. So yeah, probably too hard a spring in this case... but if the pin slot is longer that won't matter as the pin won't slam into the end of it no matter how hard the spring. Which was why I lengthened mine before I even got the HiPAC, anticipating this sort of problem and not wanting that slam interfering with my shot cycle.

I just want to shoot and have some fun, this has been apart way to much!

How do you go about to extending the slot?

I have 2 more pins in case thngs happen again.I'll look into it!

Do you have a rotary tool like a Dremel? That and a cut-off disc, the fibre-reinforced type, are good for controlled cutting into steel. The tube should be in a vise and your hands braced such that you are able to gently drop the blade into the slot and slowly carve steel until the slot is longer. Start small, work deeper, then lastly work wider to get it to full width. If not that, then a 3/16" chainsaw file I think, on an angle so you don't hit the other side of the tube. Or a shacksaw blade held in your hand then files after to clean up the cuts. Whatever the approach if you take small nibbles it's safer than trying to do the finished cuts right away. Practice on a piece of scrap tube/pipe first to get a feel for it.

How much more length did you add to the already slot?

Gosh I don't know, maybe 1/4"? It's not critical anyway. Just want to get the slot out of the way of the pin. The hammer should be coming to the end of its possible travel (bottoming out the valve stem) before the pin strikes the slot end. Using an O-ring or two behind the valve (known as the 'bstaley mod' - something worth searching for) will save you wasted pressure on every shot while also preventing the pin hitting the end of the slot.
