Do we not have a sticky somewhere on importing photos? If not, I'd be happy to contribute to one.

No, you are not limited to three, nor are you limited in size (in either file size or image size) if you use an image website (Photobucket, for example) as the source of the image, rather than using the "attach image" function in the forum software, as you have done. Those benefits are available because using outside sources and links do not require much in the way of CAF server resources, which would be very demanding in terms of both storage space and computer power to display a larger image. When you use links to outside servers (e.g., Photobucket), all the CAF server has to do is deliver the link, and all the horsepower and storage space is supplied by your computer and the image source, which affects no one else's performance on the Forum.

PM me for details if you like. In the meantime, to other members: Do we need a sticky on image uploads, or is there a coherent source currently available? Again, I'd be happy to write one if we're in need.

If I want to attach more pix I just put then together as one, which appears you just did? I also like to be sure the size isn't too big so it's not a bandwidth hog and it's width fits in the screen. At least on my laptop I need to side scroll back n forth on larger pix people post, which bugs me so I don't want to inflict that on others. Some peoples pix are so big it's easier or me to download it then look at it. I use PhotoFiltre 6.5.2, which is super small, fast, easy and portable.

That's a good point, which I always address when coaching people on uploading images (here and elsewhere). Scrolling horizontally (<->) to view a full image is just plain unacceptable to most Internet users. While vertical scrolling is tolerated because we use a fixed landscape environment, and there are times when a portrait image needs to be larger than the landscape environment will allow, there is no excuse for making a horizontal image wider than the typical user can see in his browser without scrolling horizontally. That size is not the same for all users; it depends upon the size and resolution of their screen. I'll stop with the technical babble right there.

So, although I confess I have used more, I usually recommend an image width of no more than 800 pixels to service the lowest common denominator. Does that suit your scenario, Chevota? How about everyone else who is tuned into pixel measurements and monitor sizes. If one were running a laptop at 720p movie resolution (1280 x 720), that would leave 1/3 of the screen for browser borders and desktop space. Is 1280 too conservative these days (don't forget your elders who have dropped resolution for bigger images)? Opinions would be appreciated.

This discussion does seem to fit the OP, but not the title. Feel free to PM me rather than continue to hijack a post really intended for another purpose (?).

Murray, I definitely think a sticky would be a good resource to have here. If you do create one here is a suggestion for something to include. On whatever photo service a person chooses they should create a folder exclusively for posted pictures (PostedPics? - name doesn't matter) then make it a priority to NEVER EVER delete, move, or rename any picture therein as long as they live! I hate it when I visit an old post only to find that the picture links no longer work!

There's indeed a sticky, in the ''Gallery'' section: topic16459.html

Thanks for your help, fellas!
And my apologies for creating this gooey mess of a post. I hit "Submit" instead of "Preview". Perhaps those buttons should not be right next to each other?!?! Or some other idiot-resistant measure for techno-challenged people like me. Is it possible to simply change title of the post? "Posting Photos Madness"...?
I did re-size & consolidate as many photos as possible but still ran into trouble. (again, techno-challenged)
Meanwhile, Edmonton500, I take your point about hijacking posts and will gladly PM you, thanks!
