hi guys. I just watched there video from the shot show on you tube. looks like they have a western line coming .I know they have the Winchester style pump rifle out. I don,t know how good they are but they lookin good. they have a couple smith & Wesson -- bb-- pellet-- schofields. and another gun he showed that I like but not to sure about the build quality --is the 1858 cowboy series revolver. it,s a bb gun and looks like the bbs are spring fed loaded in a slot along by the cylinder .. so the cylinder doesn,t even turn looks like. might be a cheapie. but it looks good. I can,t find any pics. maybe some one else can,.

I had a chance to speak with Nace from Barra Airguns (person in video), a couple of months ago. Good guy, they seem committed to bringing out a number of new western airguns. He told me about the 5 inch Schofield, and that the 1866 Cowboy rifle was just the first in their new western line with more similar western guns to follow.

The new "1858 Cowboy Pistol" looks like another gun along the lines of the Cowboy 1866 rifle. This one looks like a replica of a Confederate copy of the Remington 1858 black powder revolver:

My guess, it will be similar materials to the 1866, i.e. where the brass & wood parts are plastic and barrel is metal. And since it is replicating a ball & cap revolver, not a cartridge revolver, it has a different BB loading system. Sort of like a black powder revolver. I would guess the price point will be similar or less than the 1866, i.e. starting at less than $79 US.

Loading system might be similar to the old Daisy 179, which also did not have a moving cylinder.

Since the model shown was only a non-functioning prototype, it may be some time before anyone get a good look at it.

The nickel S&W Schofield No. 3 and the 900 are carry overs from their predecessor companies, Bear River Outdoors & Black Ops.

The 1911 looks like another KWC 1911 BB gun, but the full auto Glock should be interesting. Will be interesting to see if they actually call it a Glock when it comes out, now that Umarex has the airgun rights to the Glock name. But another full auto BB pistol is always a welcome addition.

I suspect Glock may be a bit more protective of it's name and design, than a no longer in existence Confederate company that was knocking off a Remington 1858.

Got to give Barra some credit, as they are coming late to the party in terms of western styled air guns. Umarex has most of the market with it's licenced Colt Peacemakers and non-licenced replicas of the Winchester 1894. And Crosman has its licenced Remington 1875. So Barra seems to be doing it's best with models it can copy, starting with the Schofield that it got with its purchase of Bear River.

Will be very interesting to see what Barra comes out with next.

The 1858 cowboy revolver looks interesting. I think it would be nice if they make the effort to have a rotating cylinder, then it would like a modernized equivalent of the old Crosman Hahn 45 BB revolver.

Yes, it really would be nice if it had a rotating cylinder. Otherwise, I suspect it would work like a Daisy 179 Peacemaker, except it would be powered by CO2, and not catapult action.

I heard back from Barra. The 1858 Cowboy pistol is scheduled to be released in later 2020, and have velocity in the 400+ fps range. The 5" Schofield should be out this summer.

"Western Plainsman" now there's a name from the past that is rarely seen nowadays.
