Is this airgun legal in Canada? And since it is rated at 300 fps, does it require a PAL to buy it?

All the different rules and interpretation of the laws in Canada can really make these questions very challenging.

Reports say it was one of the most popular airguns at the 2020 Shot Show. And in huge demand at the range day for the show.

I asked an RCMP agent, that I know, if the Crosman Airbow (same idea) was legal here. He said it was not and probably never would be. May be legal to own, but you could not hunt with it. Silly I think, but with our laws, not surprising.

Well, legal in what sense?
It could be considered non-PAL, but then again Pal non-Pal applies to pellets/bullets not bows and arrows so it would depend on a ruling presumably.
The FX guns shoot pellets as well as arrows so they are PAL guns.
And depending on hunting laws, powered arrow shooting devices (bowguns or gunbows?) may not be legal for hunting.

So, if only shoots at 300 fps, and can only be used to shoot arrows and not pellets like the FX, would it be classified as non-PAL?

Also, I heard that the problem with the Crosman Airbow was that it was a bullpup design, which I understand the RCMP does not like.

That is what got me thinking about legal to own, but not use to hunt. Could target shoot I guess.

Ths FX would definitely be a PAL gun, Duke, as would any of them that shoot pellets at PAL levels as well as shooting arrows. The ones that shoot only arrows, who knows.

A crow bow is legal is it not? I don’t even think you need a license.

I'd like to see if a guy could talk Saskatchewan to make it legal to use air bows in black powder season. Can't see why not.

You would need to talk to the firearm lab, and ask for a FRT # Alot of RCMP/police officers have no idea of the laws. I got a police buddy. He a firearm owner. That didn't know most bullpup airguns are prohibited ( due to just a linkage from the trigger and nothing else is changed ) and airgun suppressor were still illegal. He thought it was stupid.

The RCMP officer I know works specifically on this very area. He is an avid shooter of air guns and powder burners. Believe me, he knows his stuff.
