...DD, ... I do have both and use them for different purposes...But if I only had one it would be the 747 as I do mostly 10m target shooting , as with everything, "you have to know your limitations" lol ......For my own enjoyment I often compete with myself using both 747 and P17 at the same sitting .....Even tho' I really try, the 747 always comes out ahead ...The P17 comes into it's own at small pest control (rats), but for this a 1077 would be even better, especially the PAL version .....So, two different pistols, two different reasons .....I give it to the 747 for serious target work .....By the way, you don't want to push the 747 for too much fps ,overstressing the pump mechanism will cause damage at the valve assembly from excessive force...

Thanks for the input, interesting stuff. I've drifted off the point that prompted asking about it but I may well order a 747 anyway! I've always thought it has a passing resemblance to a Welrod, which is cool (at least, maybe in bad light without my glasses on...).
I found some mini metal silhouette targets on eBay earlier that could be fun with it.

Back to your options, camouflage.ca has the Alecto for sale on their site, that and a red dot and your good to go.

Nope, seen that before - if you click on it you get a prompt for an email when it's back in stock...

Hi DDtank,

I once had a lengthy review on the HW40 but my web site was accidentally deleted by my server and I lost everything. I also had a 30+ page review on the .22cal HW45... sadly gone. I owned a few 717 pistols, 8 Crosman Mk1 pistols, long barreled Mk1, IZH-46, TAU-7, HW45, HW75. I sold them all and kept the P3 and P17. I like the light weight, accuracy and ease with mounting optics.

A TAU-7 would do everything you want but unfortunately the price has soared from the $325Cdn that they once were. The TAU would adjust from 300fps to 600fps... but we know to keep it at 495fps to be in compliance. I tested mine at 30 yards and was getting 3/4" groups regularly for 5 shots. Maybe put up an ad for a used TAU-7 or IZH-46M. Someone might be willing to sell for a reasonable price.

My German made P3/HW40 is good for 1/2" groups at 20 yards (tested). I bought this pistol new in 1999 and still appreciate the accuracy. When I was shooting lots of airpistol I could do tin cans at 30 yards with the P3. Even 40 yards was doable on a calm day when you figure out the holdover. I haven't tested it in a while but velocity was typically 390fps with 8.44gr JSB Exact. The trigger was 17oz last time I checked. The Chinese P17 version is cheap enough for everyone to enjoy. It's a pretty close copy of the HW40. My P17 is almost as accurate as my original German example.
