Hi guys.
New to the forums. Glad to be a part. Living in Canada I am intersted in getting an occasional use target plinker. Do not want to spend a whole lot but have a gift cert to Cabelas Canada. Looking at the Stoeger x5. Any of you have any input or experience on that rifle? I am an average size adult and I see that one is labeled as suitable for younger shooter? Can adults shoulder the stock comfortably as well? Looking at 495 fps rifles as I do not have PAL permit. Thanks.

The Stoeger X5 is a reasonable size for an average adult, but IMO not the best non-PAL rifle you can get from Cabelas Canada. If price point is not critical, you should consider the Ruger Air Hawk, or Crosman Phantom/Optimus. They are bigger for one thing (full size if you like) and have much better triggers than the X5.

Walmart special is pretty good. Shoots very well right out of the box. Scope isn't great, but very functional for this gun.

Gun is very easy to upgrade and tune. Shoots even better with minimal work.

Bought 3, all shoot within 3/8ths at 15yds.

I'd suggest you grab that Airhawk at Wallyworld. $104 all in (including taxes - no other charges) is a great price.
