Post subject:  Depingers?

For the Disco, I have one made by Tim Hill, he says to put it down against the gauge port. Lot's of people put it in the middle.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated

Thanks

If you put it in the middle, it will slide down until it is against the gauge port anyways.... The pressure difference across it from each shot, because of the small hole, will cause to migrate.... Make sure you put it with that small hole forwards, away from the gauge port, because otherwise you will decrease the performance slightly.... If the gun has been modded for more power, particularly if the gauge port has been hogged out, or replaced with one from a PRod, to increase the airflow into the valve, even though you will still have some plenum volume inside the depinger, you may still notice a loss of power.... The smaller volume available during the shot will cause an increased pressure drop, and limit the FPE....

I can get spacers I am told. If I had it far away enough from the valve will that help any in getting performance back?

I used the prod gauge port.

yes, ideally you want about 1 cc per FPE....

Since you have increased the inlet size of the valve, by fitting a PRod gauge port, then I am sure you will understand that putting a small hole inside the reservoir to divide it can decrease the performance if it is too close to the valve.... While the hole is MANY times larger than the tiny hole in a regulator, the effect is similar, just not as drastic.... With a regulator, if the plenum is about 1 cc per FPE you still get about a 10% loss in pressure by the end of the shot cycle, but that 5% AVERAGE drop is not enough to make much difference.... With the larger hole in the depinger, I would think the pressure drop with a 1 cc per FPE plenum would be almost zero, so that is what I would use....

A Disco tube is about 7 cc per inch of length, and you already have about 5 cc of volume inside the valve and gauge block.... so if, for example your Disco is tuned for 30 FPE, installing the Depinger with the orifice about 3.5" from the gauge block should work perfectly.... It looks like there is already about a 1" long plenum inside it?....

So using some spacers to get at least 3.5" should be okay with a little drop in pressure?

Depending on the tune of your Disco, yes.... with 1 cc between the depinger orifice and the valve seat, per FPE, you should notice no difference....

It's 3000 psi with the updated 3k bolts and heavy hammer spring.

1012

1008
994.8

This was my first 5 shots before the chrony started giving me problems.

2800psi
24" barrel
BnM Breech - could be losing 50 fps or so.

996.5
1006
1001
1001
987.6
995.2
996.4
788.1
976.2
972.4
964.9
958.9
950.2

Chrony has been going crazy latley...13 for that string is it.

I have a idea now what it's shooting at.
