The father-in-law has taken a liking to my HW30S. Smaller size, light-weight, fun plinker. I want to buy him something comparable but less expensive than the 30S.

The store tied to this site sells the Diana 240 in .177 cal. Seems perfect. Price is great.

Thoughts? How's the T-05 trigger? How's the worksmanship and durability on this thing?

The Diana 240 is very similar to the Diana 24, both of which are reliable springers. The key thing to consider is the small size of the air rifle. It may take some getting used to.

I recently bought a Diana 240 Classic from another supplier. At first glance I was really pleased with its beautiful stock: dark stained beach with a satin lustre. All steel is beautifully blued, all together this gun exudes quality.

I am 1.93 m tall. The pull length (butt end to trigger) suits me fine, so does the length of the stock.

The shot cycle is surprisingly smooth. No twang.

Another surprise: this gun shoots 7.0 gr pellets at an average of 627 ft/s muzzle velocity. It probably has the German 7.5 J spring in it, while it is certified as being non-PAL (I have a PAL). Despite the power of the gun I find it easy to cock.

This Diana has a direct sear trigger. I don't know what the type identification is. The pull is fairly hard, after about 300 rounds it is getting easier, and it breaks cleanly.

All together I think the Diana 240 Classic is excellent value for the money. I enjoy it a lot.

Yes just checked and he has a 24C in .177

Or wait for the new Diana 250 to come.

I'm guessing the C in the Diana 24C is carbine, right? But what are the other differences between the 24 and 240? They are very similar in price, and it almost looks like the 240 is better but I admit I don't really know much about either. Do both have the T-05 trigger or is the 24 different?

That 250 looks pretty sweeeet. Any idea when it's coming out and what the price tag will look like?

It's a solid and well built rifle. I'm not getting rid of mine, ever. I would echange it for a 250, it looks gorgeous.

I recently bought the Diana 280 from the forum store and it is a very nice rifle. Haven't had chance to stretch its legs yet but it seems to be a very easy to handle and well built gun.

Got mine on my 13th birthday and still have it, I'm only 17 now so not that long, but I don't think I'll get rid of it. Put a stronger spring in it for a while but took it out again when I got my disco 2 years ago. It probably has more than 10 thousand rounds through it and is still very accurate, killed many squirrels, rabbits and a few starlings with it. If I take it out in the rain I have to take the stock off and wipe it down or it will start to rust where the stock covers the metal. A Friend of mine has one too and he has shot it even more than me, he has a 3-9 power scope on it and can get 1/2 inch groups at 20 yards all day long.

I don't know. It is on their 2017 catalog. As for the price range, probably somewhere between the 240 and the 280.

I bought a gently used 240 a couple of years ago (off dr. Nick, I think) so my wife would have a fun plinker, and we all love it. I am no connoisseur, but it seems well built, is easy to cock, and is really accurate once I got scope sighted. I suspect my kids will get lots of use out of it as well over the next few years. Not a powerhouse, but you already know that if you are looking at buying it. Overall, seems like a great little gun.

D240 is an excellent gun for the price and quality.

D24 is a die hard. Many years of good reputation.
About 6 or 8 years ago, the last thousands of pieces came in to Canada.

Someone is selling a Diana 24 in the for sale section for a good price.

I don't know them. I just thought I'd draw your attention to it.

I'd still recommend the 280 from the store personally. I love mine. It took minutes to get it zeroed, and put 5 pellets through the same hole at 20 yds.
