Who is charging what for this process.

Here, the only guy I know who is doing it, charges $300.00 for a barreled rifle action.

Seems awfully spendy... Assuming it's an option for you, I'd use some other product that I can apply and bake myself. I've used automotive paint on lots of things, which I bake, and it's super tough. I remember some people using Duracoat and they were extremely happy with it. Maybe it's as good as Cerakote, maybe not, but probably good enough and gotta be a lot cheaper.

I also felt $300.00 was way too much, but - it is a super covering. A barreled action (sans-bolt) was ' Cerakoted' many years ago as a demo from a gun shop on Dawson Creek, BC. The barreled action was part of a bunch of stuff & firearms stolen from a gun store in a robbery. The barreled action was found by some kids 18 months after the robbery. It had been shoved inside a highway culvert. As it was returned to the store, I was able to examine it. There was not a single mark or scratch on the barreled action. Due to it only being a demo piece, the bore was also Cerakoted and it too, was without rust.
I do have some 'special' paint powders for coating bullets, but the colours I have, would not lend themselves to rifle barrels, at least not mine. LOL

My wife is from Dawson Creek. Worked in the Scotia Bank there and got transferred here. First time I ever seen a round about was in Dawson Creek. Now they are everywhere here. Zero mark of the Alaska highway. I don't ever want to go back there in February.
