Hi, I am interested in the classic crosman air pistol. I noticed that the FPS quoted on the crosman website is 600 (http://www.crosman.com/american-classic) but on the Canadian Tire website it is 495 (https://m.canadiantire.ca/products/prod ... ku=1756390). Is this a lower powered version of the same gun for the Canadian market for legal reasons? Or is it an entirely different air gun? Cheers, Alex |

Any air pistol that shoots over 500 fps would be a restricted firearm in Canada. |

To actually answer the question..... If you buy that pistol (1377) from a Canadian source, it is detuned to meet Canadian laws. Al |

They detune it by putting a little hole in the back of the valve. You can tap the hole and put in a screw with some jb weld and cut the screw off flush, if you find your gun is shooting well below the legal limit. You'd then have to cut some coils off your hammer spring until it's legal again, if you find it is now shooting over 500fps at ten pumps. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk |

Not really ...in England, un- restricted stock 1377 s usually run about 510 to 540 fps ...600 fps is being very optimistic unless going way above the recommended 10 pumps but who would want that...most ive ever made with a stock specimen that way was 550 fps pumped about 18 times which is madness...and in danger of damaging seals I would think you guys with a 500 fps restriction should be more tempted by single stroke cockers...no danger of exceeding limits and easily made with one simple stroke ... Ive run HW70s ..Tempests and Walther 53s ...all usually stock at 440 fps quite happily at 470 plus fps after a bit of tweak...all much nicer and easy to charge guns than any 1377.. ..but it depends what your after i guess. |

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am well aware that 500 fps is the Canadian legal limit so it is interesting to know why (and how) they have taken the 1377 and modified it to meet these requirements. I guess the question then remains whether buying the Canadian version feels like buying a 2nd rate version? Or whether this really isn't a big concern? |

As for myself, I really like the 1377 the Canadian way (495 fps). It's easily good for up to 30 meters shooting, pretty accurate and easily tune-able. As for the 600 fps speed on the Crosman site, this is with light alloy pellets. You get lower values with lead pellets. |

I hear you.....but really 495 fps is fast enough for the distance you'd want to target practise with a pistol anyway...... not to mention the 1377/22s and 2240s are the most customized guns on the planet.....hardly second rate..... |
