I've had several b3s. The two guns I have now are tuned for accuracy, not velocity. Both have custom solid aluminum spring guides. Stock spring guides are rather flexible plastic. The more rigid guides made a big difference in accuracy and shot cycle. One gun is detuned to 550 fps with a shortened b18 full power spring, (I used a broken B18 spring), the other uses a stock spring for 670 fps. The insides of both guns were dripping in Chinese mystery oil, and looked like the machining was done with a chainsaw. They both needed a lot of polishing. One gun had corrosion inside the compression chamber, so I lathe-honed both of them with a brake cylinder hone. Triggers were abysmal out of the box, but responded well to tuning. Some shooters have tried to increase velocity on these guns by using stronger springs (full power b18 springs fit) and shortening the piston or "stroking". It seems that around 750 fps is the realistic limit for the b3 platform. You have to wonder if that 80 fps is worth the extra strain on the gun, every shot.
The faster b3 shoots .5" @ 20 meters
The detuned b3 shoots .25" @ 20 meters with super cheap H&N Econs. This gun is not pellet picky. It even shoots Daisy pointed well! (good for daisys anyway)

Best to consider a B3 as a pre-assembled unfinished airgun kit. They're really quirky. They're also a lot of fun

Imho, the lowly Daisy 880 is embarrasingly accurate for a plastic gun (and fast too, 725fps/7.0 gr at 10 pumps). My 880 has many thousands of bbs through it courtesy of my neighbour's grandson, and probably over 25000 shots altogether. At 4 pumps per shot (often more) that's100,000 pump strokes. No failures, no broken or worn out parts. It still shoots pellets as well as my b3s. Difficult to find in Canada, however. I bought mine in USA for $34.95.
