It shoots like this at 12 paces:

Image

5 of the 14.0 gr Meister wad-cutters at 6 pumps. According to my notes, that should be right around the 500 fps mark. I yanked the one at top with the rough trigger...

Home built 13-22 carbine made up of this and that...

Image

Newer (last year's) 13-22 tube, 18" 22-40 bbl in .22, phase 3 grip and trigger group, and earlier black forearm/pump handle, and an elderly 1st variant Weaver B-4 with the open turrets. This actually came out in the late 40's, and was up-dated to friction capped turrets by the mid- 50's.
Parallax on these is set to 50 yds, and it's not really user modifiable for closer ranges.

Extended probe .22 bolt from Crusty B's, and a delrin ftp from the same, a looong ways back.... and a home made by me bolt handle.

This combination has a few glaring short comings- mostly the heavy trigger pull, and dim optics. Still impressive what can be done from rest.

This particular scope has bailed me out on more than one occasion~ it has an elevation range that really shames the modern adjustable objective target class scopes....

I haven't really benched that bbl yet. I'm pretty sure that's a late 90's bbl. I'm going to see about getting a P-rod grip frame and trigger onto it next week. Have some 440 stainless 2 h/p motor shaft to turn down for non-waisted hammers. Just have to come up with something suitable for cocking pins. I'd like to keep the weight down on this one~ will probably switch to a K-4 post & crosswire for it.
Can't wait for the spring shows- still want a K-3.5 with TK Lee dot, if I can ever find one. It will eventually turn into a willows walking gun on a 2200 tube that's waiting in the wings...

Looks like a great barrel for accuracy. I finally resurrected my 1322 with the 2100 tube...the trigger grip frame you gave me solved part of the mystery why I couldn't get much for velocity. Shooting a lot faster now without any preload on spring, close to 500fps. I'll have to see what I can get for max velocity out of it for fun. Not sure what the difference is between trigger groups, I'll have to take them apart and check it out sometime. Anyway thanks again and looking forward to the rest of your parts gun project!

I'm pretty sure I shimmed the sear lever on that grip frame, and took a polishing wheel to the sear contact face.
Not sure why a simple change in grip frame would count for an increase in velocity... let us know what you find out.

Got the p-rod grip frame on the gun. I wrecked the extended probe by over shortening it~ I had been having trouble getting the JSB heavies to load normally. I also bent the plastic bbl sleeve on the pivot block- the gun is shooting way left now. I think I'll just cut it off for now- these bbl.'s seem to behave better free-floated off the sbk breech anyways, especially on pumpers. Not much opportunity to bench test- still a lot of work related time constraints.

I used a 10x24 setscrew for a hammer pin- this one out of a fan sheave. It seems properly thoroughly hardened for the task, even after turning down to fit in the pin slot. No sign of bending yet. I've got a fairly stiff 2200 hammer spring in there as well. Haven't weighed the non-waisted hammer yet. It's a great deal heavier than the stock hammer. Not retaining air yet at 25 pumps on the 13-XX tube.

Gun's noisy compared to a 24" .177 bbl. I actually ended up with a good migraine after the last function test shoot. Will have to remember some of the purple ear plugs the next time I'm in P/A

Wow that's pretty good, not retaining air at that many pumps! Must be a strong hammer spring. I wonder what I'm doing wrong with mine, only getting around that 500fps with 6 pumps with 14.3gr, when I've got the longer tube. I took a look at my newer sear and it is wore pretty bad, rounded off with a bit of a lip, so maybe I need a new sear.
Canada shooting supply has a few more of those 1322 plastic sleeves, though you'd have to drill it out for the longer barrel. Sounds like you don't need it anyway but Ramon was saying they are obsolete now, Crosman won't be making those parts anymore, so if a guy wants one now be the time to buy I guess [emoji846].

Really? I wonder what all this means. They just re-tooled 18 months or so ago for the new style pivot block... wonder if there are dimensional changes.

The newer version plastic seems to retain "bends" more so than the old style, which would waffle back into original position....
I wonder if he's referencing the 22-89 style pivot block?

Yeah I guess I'm not sure, maybe a new part number will be replacing it that will still work. He wasn't talking about the 2289 one because I tried ordering it from him and he said they quit making those awhile ago and that he had five of the 13xx left and no more of those were going to be made either. I only bought one, maybe should have got a few more, lol.

Just had a look on the crosman site. As far as parts numbers go, the last revision was in 2012- which doesn't cover the current production pivot block.
I think I can relax a little. IIRC, the pivot pin hole is still in the same location on the latest version.
Cabela's still has a lot of 13-xx in stock, in both calibers.

Yep, you're right. Not sure what it's about.
http://mellonair.myfreesites.net/ also still has the 2289 pivot band for $5US if anyone is looking for those.
Apologies for sidetracking the thread! [emoji846]

Not much of a sidetrack.
I actually like the look of the newer block/band. Too bad the plastic is hardened to the point of fragility....

Seriously debating adding another 13-XX to the stable. Last one yielded a really decent valve. Strong evidence of new factory tooling on that 13-22 valve...

Great idea! I'm still wishing for one of those backpackers from Mr Marvin with the 14" barrel. Haven't ordered yet though so I might be too late. If the new valves are better that would be all right since I've got one ordered from Canada shooting supply.

The 22-89 has a pretty cool pump handle/fore-arm.

That's actually the gun that got me back into airguns. The 14.6" bbls were reasonably accurate. Bit of a handful in pistol form, but manageable for me by using the crook of my left arm under the pump arm, with my left hand gripping somewhere near right elbow.
Much easier to shoot from the packer stock...

I think getting one would be worth-while.

Post subject:  Re: Parts Gun

Here's a look at the hammer and pin that I worked up to get the P-Rod grip frame and trigger working with the gun:

Image

Totally home made, and it shows

Image

10 X 24 fan sheave set-screw tuned down for the purpose.

Image

I did not run the thread tap in as far as it would go. I wanted a tapered hole in which the threads would stop the hammer pin from protruding into the pocket for the spring. It took a repetition or 3 to get the threads stopped and seated where I wanted. The time was well worth the effort.

Image

Hand milled flat along the bottom to allow easier passage over the P-Rod sear. It rides a bit higher than 22/13-XX sears. Hammer body is brass. Impact face is a stainless insert. It came out of commercial display hardware for suspending large scale images away from walls.

Image

There it is all set up for test shooting. One of my work-horse Banner 6-24 X 42MM A/O mil-dot scopes is aboard. Mount is a UTG rim-fire dovetail to Weaver/Picatinny adapter. Rings are older U.S. made gloss Burris Signature with 20 min off-set inserts in the rear ring, and zero inserts in the front ring. This system actually saves a lot of elevation grief on a mid velocity .22 airgun...

Did not bench it , and my off-hand is atrociously bad tonight. Just one of those days where my shooting is off, and it's totally lack of practice related. I want to give this thing a good wring out off the bench- it will help me decide on this bbl, or a 24" for the up-coming 2200 conversion...
