It seems every time I'm not using eye protection, something happens.
Was shooting my first variant .22 Medalist last night, and the stepped little 6 X 32 screw for the sliding breech cover broke.
Of course it beaned me in the eye. Eye's o.k.- just a little sore. I think if it would have been an 1/8" over to the left, I'd be in serious trouble...

I gotta remember to wear my eye protection. There's really no excuse for me not to...

It's odd that nothing seems to happen when I'm wearing them- not a mark on them.....

Nice to know you have nothing on the eye ~

The force shield of the eye protection is just to protect itself.... Protecting the eyes behind just the side effect ~ [emoji57]

recently while out in the woods i took off my glasses while setting down the BB pistol (shooting cans) and grabbed a 22 cal pellet air rifle with scope to take a shot at a real estate for sale sign made of plywood found in said woods...

i heard 3 noises next..

the shot
the impact on the sign
the impact on my right eyebrow.. :O

i too ALWAYS (i thought) wore my safety glasses...

big oops.

i got off lucky that day.

when i buy a different kind of safety glass from Princess Auto, i buy two,
..and take shots at one of the pair.

It's said the soft lead pellets won't bounce back.... But actually it DID ~

I met that some times. Although not came exactly back to me, but I can hear that it hit something maybe one, two feet away on my side ~ So proper protection is necessary just like the seat belt in you car ~

Glad you're ok Doc!

I wear glasses all the time, but really should have safety glasses on when shooting, as you say.

Went to the Dr. today to get the eye looked at- just to be safe and sure.

He sez it's clean and no sign of infection. There's a tiny cut just off to the side of the pupil. I consider myself very lucky...

That's good, Ive had the eye died a few times for objects that hit my eyes. Infantry before safety glasses were required on nigh patrols.

But most of mine were using a grinder. I wear safety glasses shooting firearms. Only because there a chance it can blow up ( reload) and plus we get some shrapnel coming back. Basement range is pretty full, cannot get a piece of equipment to dig it out and nobody wants to manually shovel and carry buckets out.

Well a lot of mine were me under a car, cutting exhausts or bolts. Sparks and metal coming in from the top of my glasses.

I know 2 months ago, I had a 9mm case come land in between my safety glasses and temple.

They need to make a good par of non fogging ones.
