Salve fellow enthusiasts. I recently acquired my first PCP rifle - a nice Brocock Concept S6 in .22 caliber. However, I've not yet decided on an air source and would appreciate some input. Ideally it would be great to purchase something from a Canadian vendor, but depending on cost I could be swayed to purchase from outside the country.

I tend more toward the buy once, cry once purchase methodology. So, an 88 cu. ft. carbon tank with the appropriate regulator, hose, and fittings seems appropriate. I’m in Calgary and there are shops here that will fill to 4500 psi. At this time a compressor isn’t an option due to space and noise constraints.

In my research the Joe Brancato Great White, and Air Hog units seem to be recommended on a regular basis. I’ve also found that Airgun Source has a carbon tank setup, though only available in a max size of 74 cu. ft, but I’d prefer a full size tank.

Are there other options that I’ve missed that should be considered? Any other advice is appreciated.

Thanks. As mentioned, I’d prefer a full size 88 cu.ft. tank.

I purchased a used 45 min scba carbon tank with fresh hydro and rebuilt valve from a place in Edmonton with 2 yrs service life left for less than $200. At the time Airgun Source didn’t have a fill assembly available (backordered) so I bought one from Joe B in the US ( somewhat expensive).
A 45 min tank is like 74 cu ft so smaller but fill my two at44 180 cc airtubes from 2-3000 psi many times and I’m only able to get 4000 psi in tank from local shops here. I only get it refilled every couple of months and do quite a bit of shooting.

If you do go this route I would recommend you contact the seller and ensure it comes with the reg and fill station.

If you need a DOT certified tank in order to get it refilled, here is a 88cu ft tank on aliexpress that is a pretty good price. Comes with the pcp fill station. The DOT certification tanks cost more, but some paintball/scuba shops won't fill the others, is my understanding.

Hi mclmm,

I purchased a preowned Air Hog 88 Cu. Foot tank a year or so back, complete with valves, gauges and two filler hoses -has performed perfectly without issue for me. I also purchased an Alpha filter from Joe Brancato a few months ago -great guy to deal with and a flawless transaction. You will however have to pay some serious $$ for US based sources and shipment via courier. Can't go wrong with AGS, but I understand you may have to shop elsewhere for the larger tank. I subscribe to both the "Buy Once Cry Once" and "K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid)" principles -stick to these and life will be good.

Cheers!

I have dealt with Joe Brancato at Air Tanks for Sale. He outfitted me, spent a lot of time, and I found his products excellent and fairly priced. I also use a Shoebox Compressor. I'm perhaps a bit out of date because I've been AWOL from airguns for about two years, but he'll have what you want. http://www.airtanksforsale.com

And he'll spend time with you on the phone.

Same for me he build me a custom fill station for my 4500psi nitro tank, it was expensive but top quality and service.
