Upon Moderator Edmonton500's suggestion from another thread,

What's your take on the Benjamin Marauder? There seem to be allot of misgivings regarding this model of PCP related to "personal experience", but very few details from said forum members on what their beef is. Being an owner myself, I'd like to hear pros and cons from other members who've either owned one themselves or have owned one in the past. My experience has been completely positive given the ease of use/performance vs price point. Certainly not the best rifle in my collection, but I still believe it to be an exceptional value all things considered. So guys and gals, let's take a little survey and see what the general consensus is.

Cheers!

I don't own one but was ready to buy one......until I changed my mind. So I'm keen to to see what people have to say.

I'm not busy so I'm reading/watching a lot about air rifles, particularly the Marauder. They seem to dominate the internet discussions and I'm guessing they have more then half the PCP market. Lots of mods, complaints and compliments.

Carry on !

As posted in a previous thread the M-rod experience is a thumbs down for me mainly because:

1. The first Gen 22 cal I used to have did not have an accurate barrel as per my expectation. Maybe I got a bad one but not so sure. Groups start to open up beyond 25 yards.

2. The 2nd Gen cal 25 was good and very accurate but started to show some difficulties when loading pellets on my second magazine. It shoots very accurately at 25 yards (dime size on the Green Mountain Barrel) but got me frustrated when on my second magazine when pellets got stuck, prompting me to return it to the dealer (D&L). I would have kept it then since I am looking for a longer range shooting rifle in cal 25.

My experience with this brand and model. Would like to hear other forum member's experience as well.

;-)

Rumor mill said the .25 barrels were farmed out to Green Mountain and some noob or idiot rifled them half way from each end. Again, rumor, but there was an issue w/ .25 barrels and that's the story.
Other than that I'm happy with my 22 version. This is my second, old one was gen 1, and I like it better but it's not really very different.
Very accurate, very powerful, and in my case, virtually silent. After modding the suppressor all I hear is the hammer. Fire a CA version w/ zero air in it and that's what mine sounds like, no exaggeration.
Plus it was cheap, I paid $400 for a syn on sale at PA.
I also modded the stock w/ a small hole so I can adj the power w/o taking the stock off. Plus making the barrel shroud fit tight on the front where it floated b4. The suppressor mods and I buttoned the hammer.
I plan on getting a tank extension, installing a weaker spring and getting one of those cam-lock hammer debounce dealies. My redneck attempts at debouncing have not worked as well as that dealie does, which i had on my old gun.
No doubt many more expensive guns are better, like my friends sweet a$$ Air Arms S510 (drool), but it's >twice the $. If I had that gun I'd be scared to take it out for fear of scratching that amazing stock. A scratch would bug me to no end so the disposable Mrod fits the bill for a gun that works well and I don't have to worry about it. Plus they make aftermarket goodies as described and I can tinker w/ it w/o fear. Whatever I ruin I can buy a replacement part for fairly cheap.
