Post subject:  What's the 'Air chamber oil' used for?

I got this long time ago before I knew where to buy the pellgunoil and where to use it ( way long time ago before I know about the 30ND oil...). It's the RWS Air Chamber Oil that comes with a needle in the small box...

Still have no idea which gun needs this and where to use it and why need a needle to apply the oil... And why need to use it...

Anyone used this before and can give some information on it?! Pics are very welcome ~ :D

Thanks!!Image

I had some of that, actually I think I still do. Used it on single stroke pneumatics only. Put a couple drops into the tiny intake port with or without the needle. Keeps the soft rubber piston head from drying out. Hasn’t caused me any issues.

Pellgun oil and the like are petrolium based and could detonate and diesel if used to lubricate piston spring seals. RWS chamber oil is silicone oil (synthetic). Check out Tom Galor’s video on lubricating spring piston air guns here: https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/RWS_Air_ ... 50_oz/3002.

Thanks for the input!
Tom's video is very helpful!

So the air chamber lube is to be applied directly to the top of the main piston seal, right?

But how about apply the oil without disassemble the gun ( at least take off the piston...)? As it mentions on the label, use the 'exhaust hole'? Where is it?

For the Izh 46m, I think it's the one on the breech spot? I hear the air was suck into the tube from there (and of course while I pull the trigger, the compressed air blows out from the same hole?!)

How about like P17? Air is sucked from the underneath hole but release from the valve on the top... I don't think the lube can get into the tube from the 'exhaust hole'... Actually I think the same question about the 46m... Applying the oil from exhaust hole, it would only reach to the valve seal?!

And this is silicone oil which actually is for springer more than SSPs?! If so, same question... Where and how to apply if not disassembling the gun...

Yep ~ I saw that each time I cock my 953, and last time I put a drop of pellgunoil oil on it... So actually the 'air chamber lube' will be the more specific one for this purpose, right?
