Greetings,

I hope this is not in the wrong area.

I live on Vancouver Island in down town Victoria. There are not a lot of options for shooting air guns in the down town core that doesn't involve explaining things to a judge afterwards. I know there are several private ranges in the area including the Vic Fish and Game but thought for non PAL rated airguns is joining a range actually necessary?

So I'm asking current and former island dwellers for advice or feedback where a couple chubby middle aged guys can haul their low-power airguns to do a little aluminum can slaughter? The only place I know is a logging area waaay out past Sooke. Are there other outdoor/crown land options? Cheap ranges I can join? Anyone have a medium to large yard? We're neat, clean and respectful..

Thanks!!

I hope you find a solution. I’m in a rural area and the bylaw bans anything firearm and air gun over 500fps, no soft pellet guns at all, no spring power at all or any compress air guns at all. Unless your zone as agriculture land so farmers can deal with pests. Their reasoning is they can be modified to go over the limit. Right now only <500 FPS guns that can’t be modify like replicas. I spoke to the bylaw officer in person not long ago and said I was total fine. I guess the complaints coming in were numerous from adjoining neighbors to shooters. Broken windows and the like. Good luck my friend. Hope you find a solution.

Thanks! So do I! I'm not unmindful of the possible damage to adjoining property which is why I like to find remote areas if possible or a spot with a good backstop.
