These just the two names for the same thing, right?

I just got my Daisy Diopter rear sight delivered yesterday, and it's just same two type of adjustments, the elevation and the windage. There is no 'diopter' adjustment ( I am not an optometrist, so actually I have no idea how to do so neither... and of course I don't know how a rear sight has the diopter adjustment)...

Is just because the Daisy peep sight just the normal thing, not the high end model / brand name?

Anyone has some details can share?!

To me, a Diopter sight means an Aperture sight having an adjustable iris, as this one has.

An Aperture sight may or may not have an adjustable iris.

And IMO, the Daisy diopter rear sight looks too complicate... Actually I got a lemon which I found the windage adjustment of the sight is not working and I have to return it to seller for a refund...

At the time I brought it out from the box, before install it on the gun, I noticed a clip spring bounced out but I have no idea where it came out... Then at the first time I adjusted the windage, a very tiny ball bearing fell off too then I lost the 'tick tick' adjustment and the windage adjustment knob just smooth in and out while turning...

Do we need this small parts on a peep sight?! It looks the Williams just keep things simple and obviously would be more durable and long lasting?!

A peep sight is like what you got on the 1322/2240. Simple hole. Apatures are normally have different holes for more pin point. Or able to change out the front inserts.

I am not in the know but my understanding is a windage and elevation adjustable aperture sight. The Daisy version would meet this criteria.

The "diopter" effect is created by the small aperture . There is no actuall lens
The small opening increase the zone that appears in focus, this helps keeping the front sight in sharp focus. Great for us geezers with bad eyes. Most folks shoot WAY better with "peep" sights.

The aperture discs are interchangeable on fancy target sights and a few of the hunting ones as well .

Smaller openings providing sharper picture but a much reduced field of view. The smaller opening also need more light.

Windage and elevations are the same as blade sights.

Hmm ~ Thanks Hillbilly~ this is very clearly explain the English terms because in my dictionary, 'Diopter' looks more specific to the.... like mentioned by Daryl, with an adjustable iris and more likely used on prescription glasses etc... And I made contact with 'peep' sight first from Williams, then the Daisy Diopter sight just looks so different from the simple designed Williams peep sights.....

Yes Yep, you are correct , all the names are used interchangeably.

Diopter used correctly is the amount of correction provided by a glass lens. I remember being confused by all this when I new to shooting as a teenager.

Most the the world's military use them for a long time because the are easy to train soldiers on, inexpensive and tough. The also work pretty good. Just focus on the front sight and leave the target a blurr.
