As say, HW30 is for young shooters, and HW35 is the entry full size rifle... I actually want to bring home another family member for my HW30 now...

Just read about the history, oh my ~ the first HW35 was produced in 1951 and actually the same design just last this long to 2018... And from YouTube, so many HW35 reviews are based on a very aged and looks abused HW35 and it's still shooting well ~

Right now, I want to pick a keeper from HW35 and HW35-E.

Except a longer barrel, if I only take a .22 non PAL 495fps one, any other advantage the HW35 E can give me over the regular HW35?

If anyone of you own both and can share the hands on experience would be much appreciated !! And all ideas plus links are welcome as I just start doing my homework and must miss out many things ~

Same mechanics.. Different stocks. Weihrauchs website shows that the barrel lengths are the same for both models(470 mm or approx. 18") on the presently made rifles.

https://www.weihrauch-sport.de/spring-p ... el?lang=en

35 is has a plain beech stock, the 35E is walnut stock, checkered grip and sling swivels.

If pride of ownership is important, the 35E is the way to go. If you want the rifle simply to shoot, and to save a few $$ for pellets, the 35 is fine

Alright ~ You just answered one of my question in the mind as I found the lengths numbers are same on D&L's website, but the searchs told me a different story ~

But looks the price differences between these two and the extras on the 35E, no wonder the 35E sold out and the 35 in stock?! ;-) at least I think I will go for the 35E ...

Pellets is a deep hole, you can't fill it up in your life time ~ :D

I have an older 1979 HW35 (full power) in mint condition. Its an excellent gun well built and very accurate, but one thing I find it's a bit heavy for the power it has.
I shoot my BSA Supersport, Slavia 634 and Diana 34 way more often. Just something to think about especially if you are getting a 495fps model.

Yeah ~ it's 2lbs more than the HW30... So a sling is really necessary for this gun?!

However is still a little lighter than the full power others like HW97 etc... Maybe a good step by step to let me get used to the heavy weight of the big springers ~

Hey, just thinking what about an HW80 (495fps) D&L list .177cal at 4kg, compared to the HW 35 at 3.8kg. The HW 80 was designed from the 35 only difference is that the 80 has a longer air chamber, giving more power. Plus if you get your PAL you can upgrade the spring and will have a way more powerful gun.
Don't get me wrong I like my HW35, I put a Jim Maccari spring kit and it shoots very smooth, but for the same weight I'd rather shoot a magnum power gun. If you bench your guns its fine but to me my heavy guns get less use.

The 80 looks is the most powerful springer among other Weihrauch springers ~

But lthe HW35E has its special designs like the barrel locking mechanism which says is for matching the competition grade accuracy fixed barrel... I believe it's true and interested to try it with my own hands ~

And then I hope the extra weight on this gun is caused by better materials and qualities ~

And I think once I still living in the city, PAL rated guns will still leave me a distance... And I don't like a gun that being detuned too much from the original full power version... Which HW30 and HW35 if in .22 detuned and full power actually just less than 50/60 fps difference , I assume it will give the gun a more smoothly shooting cycle... But if a detuned for 495 vs , the full power for 800 fps, it looks a bit too much and looks odd...

If in .177, full power almost double the output of the detuned model... Did they trim half if the spring?! (I know my math is bad... But I will think this strange scenes in my mind... lol )

Another suggestion, I know my next purchase is the the HW77k!

One more thing the HW30 is made to just the same quality as the HW35, weight doesn't mean better quality. The 35 weighs more because the air chamber dia. Is larger to get more power but as you are buying a 495fps model you are basically buying a heavy HW30. My full power HW30 (.177) is just as or more accurate as my HW35., because after some time the weight of the 35 takes a toll.

I don't want to deter you from buying the 35 but $600 is a lot of money.

Yeah, for the money part, I noticed this too! Because a 97 is not much expensive than the 35E, a pretty good used one posted for sale for the same price now...

Correct ~ So a 35 would be a little bit step forward for me to the full size rifle from the 30. And I must find a .22 this time and no more 177 in order to have more power and not a same gun like the hw30 with extra weight ~

I have a 40mm scope on the 30 currently, and after some shooting sessions, I felt the extra weight on the gun (lol, not used to the extra weight, but feeling the 'heavy' of the gun ~)...

Maybe I would use my Daisy open sight on the 35E if I get one soon to lower down the weight of the gun ~

I've only had the walnut 35E, never held the beech stock regular 35. The walnut stock is quite handsome - it's my favorite stock of the HW lineup now as they haven't messed with it... I'm not a fan of the newer stock designs (ie. on the HW50). The receiver is quite chuncky on these - as previously mentioned the weight goes up quite a bit too. The (walnut) stock is slim on the sides and does a good job of not adding much additional bulk. I also like the history and "classic-ness" of this rifle - however when it comes to actually shooting I prefer the HW95/50's (don't currently have a 30) for the moderate weight and simpler wedge barrel lockup.

I own a 35e, a 30 stainless and a 95. The 35 and 95 are pal .22cal. The 30 is .177 pal. The 35 is walnut and shoots 640 fps. The short stroke is nice. The 30 is an adult size rifle but very light compared th the other 2, even scoped. The 95 is beach and plane looking. My 35e is dark brown with a flat finish. If I could only have 1 ,I would keep the 35e. The 30 and 95 look like normal airguns but the 35e is in a class by its self. Get a 35e, you won't be disappointed. Btw the 30 is nice and light and has good power for it's size and weight
