Post subject:  Beeman QB78 new owner... more questions plz....

Hi.
I like the gun a lot so far....
I have a few questions if I may ask...

1- is dry firing bad for this gun ? I mean firing with a full tank but no pellets in

2- my model is the model S for Synthetic... what is the best way to degassing it ?

3- Should I slowly unscrew the Philip head screw , the one puncturing the CO2 cylinder , for degassing the gun? (see picture below showing the screw)

3- I would like to know the ballistic coefficient of some pellets
, particularly the JSB Match Diabolo Exact Jumbo Heavy .22 18.13 g . I didn't see it at JSB.... do you have this info ?
(I use this software for tables: Shooter firearms)

4- what is a good oil to lubricate the parts and gasket. I suppose silicone oil.

5- is there a safe grease as well ?

6- with 2 new CO2 cylinder in, IYO how many shoots before speed starts changing to much ? (.22 here)

thanks in advance.

Stef.

1- No, it's not bad. It's actually the only way to de-gas the gun when there's not enough CO2 gas left to shoot a pellet at sufficient power. Have you read your owner's manual? See picture.

2- See #1

3- No. That screw is there to hold the inner part of the gas cap, it has nothing to do with de-gassing.

3 #2- ...errr...I don't know. I hope someone else will chime in for this one LOL! Maybe try ChairGun: https://www.hawkeoptics.com/chairgun-an ... -life.html

4- Silicone oil, yes. But many peoples also use PellGun oil, or SAE30 non-detergent oil.

5- Dielectric, or diver's grease (actually silicone grease) on the seals. On the trigger parts, you'll want to use a good quality mineral oil or grease, and a drop of mineral oil on the hammer (again, PellGun oil or SAE30 ND are good for that).

6- About 50-60 if I remember correctly (it's been a while since I shot mine). A chrony is not that expensive, and is useful for many reasons

1. No - see 2.
2. When the pressure is low such that the power starts dropping off, repeatedly cock it by cycling the bolt and dry fire until it's almost spent then undo the cap.
3. Slowly, so the gas doesn't freeze the seal and make it brittle. Best when it's almost empty - see 2.
3(2!). Best chrono it.
4. Not sure, Pellgunoil probably which I don't think is silicone.
5. Not sure, what's to grease?
6. Best chrono it or just watch/listen for the power drop.

What do you think of it? I have the same one in 177, cleaned the barrel but never fired it. Lost interest a bit, might sell it.

I have the .177 and only pellet rifle that gets shot daily. Was thinking of the .22 in trading post. Costs some money to keep it shooting but it shoots so good I don't mind the $30 per week for 40 - C02 caplets because of the way it shoots. I like the gun because it holds a bipod. Super quiet that I plan to shoot it in my backyard this summer also. QB Chief hand pumping every 20 shots take some of the fun out. Enjoy your new pellet rifle. CHEERS!

Yur payin' too much, my friend. Princess Auto or Canadian Tire often have Crosmans on for sale @$20. When they do in your part of the world. buy 'em out! :D Or, try this member's product -- she's well-known here and her product is top notch. Get her to quote you on a thousand or two. Shipping will cost a bunch, but when assimilated into the total cost, you'll likely still be looking at less than 50 cents each.

You might also try your local outdoors store / gun shop for the CO2 cartridges - my local store sells bulk 12 gram 100 lot @ 55 cents each.

Cheers,

Will get a bunch when Princess Auto goes on sale. Have not been on sale since last fall and bought the gun after the sale. I have a great stock of Grizzly 8.6 wadcutters ($5.99) that have been on sale all month. When a sales lady says " You must have a lot of nasty critters around your house" you know perhaps you are getting enough to last awhile. I said "Nope stock piling. Sale is only half over. Full power 177 QB78S just adores the 8.6 Grizzly's. :D
