Been trying to decide on one of these for years but can't decide between open sights or dovetail only. (I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure...). I know - get both? Anyway, they are not very popular but any opinions from owners? Also, anyone know why the spec on the Black Arrow has a tad more power (at least on the D&L listings), the barrel is shown as the same length for both? (Edit: actually the same according to the Weihrauch site.) |

I have an older, open sight model, the one without the safety. It shoots straight at the 400 fps mark, very consistently and accurately, recoil is easily manageable. As for me, I always favor open sights vs scoped on a pistol, and they are very easy to use on this fine pistol. Be it only for the lighter weigth, I'd still go for the open sights. Cheers! |

Thanks as always, airmec. I agree - I tried a scope on my HW45 and didn't like it but also found on others with a proper dovetail that a compact red dot is okay. Good point about the weight too, it's up there isn't it and about the same as the 45. |

They are identical guns internally and in barrel length but the Black arrow variant has simply been given a barrel shroud and some bling... The pistol runs approx 440 fps once run in, comfortably out powering a HW40/ P17 but a marginally greater kick due to the weakish mainspring... You can make a little top hat/slip ring for a little more but 450 fps with match pellets is about it |

I'm not fussed about the power level as what I have in mind is sitting on the sofa watching TV and plinking into a trap across the living room. Haven't mentioned it to 'er indoors yet though... I prefer the idea of a break barrel as it is less of a struggle to cock than a SSP. Could get a Buckmark or push the boat out for a HW. Or (as Murray rightly pointed out), I could dither and keep researching to the nth degree before ever parting with my money. |
