While I drilled a hole on the stuck co2 capsule, I left a mark on the barrel which might cause by the plastic shell of my power drill when I worked on it....

I am not sure the 2240 barrel is blued or painted black.. As it's so easy to remove the color, I am thinking polish it out to change its look....

I want to see after I polish the barrel, do I need further treatment to protect it?! How about a layer or wax something??

Any ideas?!

Barrel would be blued.. Vinegar will remove the bluing. Then a dremel with a buffing wheel with some polish, or doing it by hand with a rag. I polished a gun years ago, and other than the polish, I just oiled and it's been fine for years.

Waxing would be a good idea or oiling as mentioned or Ballistol. Seeps into the metal and works great.

Look up a guy called Mountain Storm on YouTube. He has loads of different videos but he has a few on 2240 mods. He has a video about removing the bluing and polishing it.

Just a suggestion but you can slip a chromed shroud over the barrel and hold it on centered with some 012 O-rings. I took down a bathroom towel bar and discovered the tubing fit over the barrel and clears the air tube on a 1322. Should work on a 2240.

I polished my gun and barrel a few years ago. I used 600 grit sandpaper from the auto store, then went in steps, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit. I used a buffing wheel and some polish after. For protection I used a polish that had a surface protection in it. About once a year I wipe it down with oil. The 13xx barrels are the same as the 22xx.
