....I have an old beater of a 1322 (bolt action) ....I decided to put a seal kit in it as it didn't hold pressure for very long, even though it pumped up fine .....The valve was full of black gunk, but cleaned up ok with brake cleaner and a little SOS to re-dress the '0' ring surfaces....My question is,....on the older models, does the pump cup have a pin through it ? .....I left the old cup in as I couldn't remove it and didn't want to be bothered by a metal pin that seemed to be holding it in place ( I was getting tired ).....It pumps up fine and has a completely different 'report' ie. louder and crisper .......

I don't recal if it has a pin as I put a flat top in along time ago , but your crisper report is because you cleaned your valve and it functioning smoothly now.
