....I have just upgraded an old 1322 ....re-seal,...14" barrel,...cheap scope&mounts,...and 1399 stock ... good for ratting.....Then something occurred to me that I can't figure out ......Where does the air enter the compression tube while pumping ? ....The P17 has a small inlet hole and the pump cup doesn't travel back past the pump arm slot,.....so what am I missing here ? How does air enter the pump tube ? .....By the way, it's very accurate, requires less pumping now and has far more power than I'd hoped for,....rats beware !

I don't have a 1322, but I do have a 1377. As far as I know when pumping the piston comes back far enough that the air can enter in front of it through the linkage slot.

Iirc at the rear of the cocking slot the tube is 'bent' outwards to allow air intake.

....I noticed the outward bend,...but the pump cup doesn't seem to travel that far.....and , you'd think there would be a 'hissing' sound as in the P17 .......It is the only place, so it must be very quiet and subtle .......thanks for your replies

yes its the only place, it doesn't need much space for air to enter
but that is definitely the location as mentioned above
