Just wondering what you guys used as a spring conpressor when you need to perform some jobs on your springers??

And the 'Quick Grip' type clamps strong enough to handle the jobs?Image

I use a "Irwin" branded spreader clamp and it works just fine.

Yep,.looks I saw that brand too, but it's not in promotion ~ [emoji38]

And finally I bought an old scbool style 'heavy duty' one... Although I read from other forum that you can use a hammer to lightly tap the 'trigger' to release the spring little by little, I just afraid I can't control it well and it still end up flies to everywhere because I tested a bit and the Quick grips are much convenient than the old style to release and move the clamp on the track...

I like the quick F clamp, easier to adjust one handed. Mine was plenty stronger enough on D350 magnum.

That one looks way too short?

Did you measure the compression tube to the min size you needed?

That's a 12" clamp, and I bought it for my HW45 pistol... I never disassemble a springer before and I found my HW45 just shooting slow and I bought a spring from Air-Gun Headquarter for it and want to see if I can handle this before working on the rifles in the future.

And yout home-made compressor looks good~ maybe I can make one like that too and no need to buy super large (long) clamp for the rifles...

12 won't work, but you can get up to like 48". Obviously fully compressed in photo.

For a rifle obviously I will need a 48 inches (looks the biggest size already, right?)...
Right now I don't have plans for my rifles but want to check up my pistol first, and the 12 inches szie is what they recommended for the HW45...

Ah, Well you did ask, what we use to work on springers and 90% work on rifles :P But still I would have bought a full size, in case you do need to work on your rifles. Then your not going out trying to buy another.

You should also buy a small vise with padded jaws, you can clamp on a bench to hold your guns, so you can have 2 hands to align the clamps.

...... Before the vise, I think I need a bench / work table for it to clamp on first... And then a bigger house or garage for the table first?!

Nothing related to a real expert yet~ [emoji38]

I bought three different clamps, finally decide to buy the Irwin. It is much better than others.

I have a clamp in a style similar to the one in the OP that I used to do a HW30. The last couple of guns I tore down were HW50/95's and you don't need a compressor for those.

You can get clamp on vises.. That can clamp on a computer table, kitchen table, counter top ETC. They make life much easier. I lived in an apartment and made myself a little portable bench. Don't need a bigger house, or garage for that.
