Hello,
The HW80 has an automatic safety which is "ON" after every cocking of the rifle.
My question is: if I push the safety "OFF" when ready to shoot, and then decide not to take the shot right away and want to push it back "ON", is it possible ?
It seems I can only push the safety pin to "OFF" when ready to shoot, but can't push it back "ON" if I want it back in safety mode?

What I've been doing so far is breaking the barrel and leaving bent open to be safe until ready to shoot again, or shooting the pellet into the ground to waste the shot which allows me to reload which automatically engages the rifle back in safety "ON" again.

Looking at the design, if you can grab it, You should be able to pull it down.

Looks like some places in the UK, made safety catches with over size button for it. So you would be able to push to take it off safe, pull to put it back to put it back.

I had the same question and I can't find a way to put it back to safe-on... and looks the best way is to waste the shot and just shoot it into the ground or into the trap... As if you keep the barrel open, you have to hold it all the time to leave no chance for the accident happens to slap back the barrel (remember the safe is OFF and it will be more chance to happen than it's ON when you loading the pellet...).

Doesn't it re-engage when you break it open and cock it all the way (going smoothly since no spring tension but all the way through)

Walking around with the barrel broken is a good way to have an accident and you could be injured or damage your rifle. The best way to cure the situation is learn not to flick the safety off after its cocked. My Diana 280 cant be put safe after Ive pushed the button in either.

Oh yeah!! You can't just break it open again and you have to push the barrel down to the end to re active the trigger part and the safe back to ON....

As there's no spring tension, so I never finish the full 're-cock' process and didn't re active the safety using this method before...

How? It be no different then lifting a bolt on a bolt action rifle. There is 2 Safeties other than the mechanical. Finger and your brain. You shouldn't be relying on mechanical safeties anyways.
