Can anybody tell me if this Tasco Red Dot will mount onto my Crosman 2240 pistol? My pistol has the steel breech with dovetail rail, but I'm not sure if this Tasco will mount properly. Thanks. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/tasc ... 5532p.html |

nope, its a picatinny mount, you will need an dovetail to picatinny adapter |

Thanks. The thing that throws me off is when they say its "built on dovetail rails..." and from what I know the Crosman 2240 has a dovetail rail, doesn't it...and so...? |

Okay, thanks for the adapter tip. I see it would work. But, then my mind is saying it why pile on so much stuff. Is there perhaps a more minimalist way to go? Is there a red dot scope that will fit right onto the 2240 breech dovetail? |

Don't always believe in descriptions online. Sometimes businesses put description of one item, and photo of another. Tasco does sell that reddot in a dovetail mount. And do believe that CT does sell it, I've seen it before. Just go in store. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com ... L1500_.jpg |

I have that reddot, bought if for my 10/22. Put it on, sighted it in, took it off and bought a scope. Not a good optic. |

L1500_.jpg The tasco website shows two models but there is no mention about the mounting at all. I want to believe you, and might have to take a trip to CT to check myself. There's only a few stores that have inventory so I'll have to drive farther out to go see. Hopefully the inventory status is accurate... I'd hate to drive out there for nothing... Thanks. |

I hear ya, but I'm hoping the red dot will be good enough for my plinking and ratting needs. You're running a rifle there so perhaps your 10/22 deserves something better. My main concern is to have a shorter scope installed ahead of where you insert the pellets to give me room for my fat fingers. As it is now, I have an old 3/4" scope mounted across the breech and it makes inserting a pellet a real chore as you can't get your finger in there close enough so to drop it in precisely, ends up dancing around cause you kind of have to let it fall in and then it jumps around... |
