Thinking about getting a diana 54 airking. I have a hw 95 and hw 35 both in .22 pal. And hw 30 in .177 pal. Diana 34 177 pal and slavia 630 plus 2 mint tempest. The airking would be .177. I could get a hw 80 or 97 but there all sold out. How do you airking owners like them?

I have a pair of HW 97's one in .177, an HW80 in .177 the other in .22, as well as a few PCP .25's. The HW80, I am keeping as an iron sighted short range(0-50yds) hunting rifle, just because.

I did a search and found an old tread that may help:

You will see, like many rifles, some love them some don't.
HW97 are a safe bet, perhaps wait for somewhere to get stock, or wait for a used one to show up.

There is a reason used HW 97 or any HW to not show up for sale often
Think about that before buying a new D

Exactly! If you do find one, the seller wants $50 or $100 dollars less than a new one.

I want one because of the no recoil feature. The one thing stopping me is a few years ago I bought a Diana 350. It litterly fell apart after 100 shots The gunsmith at the store tried to talk me out of buying it !! Such recoil , broke the main spring and you had to tighten down the screws every few shots, traded it for my favourite Diana model 34. The thing about magnum springers is they usually take alot of time to get accurate with them. I have read the 34 are easier to shoot accurately.

The thing is the 54 is a recoiling springer like the rest of them, it's mounted on a sled so the stock doesn't recoil, but the innards and screws get the normal shake... and the scope can whack you in the eye cause its coming back at you when the action recoils.. It's hard on scopes too.

Its a good rifle but has it own pros and cons. No recoil, but its heavy, actually way too heavy compared to other springers. If you planning to keep it and not planning to move around with it, its good. Forget about mounting a scope unless u wanna see some stitches around eyebrow  . I would say go to a store, hold it in hand and then decide if you really want to buy or not. Other thing you can consider is Diana 48, if you get any, slightly less heavier compared to Diana 54. We love springers bcoz of their recoil  If you want something without recoil, go for a PCP.

Even that I still willing to buy a good used one rather than a new one... Thinking the previous owner tuned and added extra stuffs which can save you a lot of time working on it before enjoy just shooting it...

OTOH, the previous owner may have been unable to solve various problems, gave up and dumped it?

Unfortunately, I've been on that end of the stick also.

Good luck with your search.

That was good. WEATHERBY eyebrow indeed.

Lightweight shooter without much of a clue of physics.
Closed his right eye before the shot, as well.

LOL~ That's true~ I think I am lucky because usually I don't buy in a rush and from the good forum members and friends only~ ;)

Like my last one, a looks not too new HW97K and pretty sure the previous owner is not the first owner and didn't mention too much about the rifle just told me it works well~ and I discovered the surprises one by one by myself... [emoji38] anyway, I refinished the stock by myself too~ Image
