Hi, I'm a UK member, I signed up so that I could thank airmec alias François for his very useful posting re. disassembly of the Umarex Ruger 10/22 replica which I was able to follow to strip down my leaking 10/22. I own several other airguns from the Umarex/Walther stable: an RM8 Varmint, Air Magnum, Walther Reign and SA-10 pistol, all in .177 calibre. I've had all of the rifles apart at some time for seal/regulator repairs. Over here we have a strict 12ftlb energy limit for air rifles and 6ftlb for air pistols anything higher requiring a firearms license,so power enhancements definitely off the menu.

All the best,

Aeromotion aka Andy

Hi Daryl, thanks for the welcome. Apologies for my ignorance - I looked on line and now understand that Canadian law regarding unlicensed airguns is way stricter than even we are in the UK. Anyone here over 18 can walk into a gun dealer and buy a sub 12ftlb rifle without anything other than proof of age. Mail order is prohibited. For those wanting to go higher, then getting an FAC (firearm certificate) is however tough and subject to a lot of constraints. As I shoot mainly targets at 25 or 50m 12ftlb works for me.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Aero the laws are strange... But sub 500fps airguns here are not regulated They have to be both over 500FPS and over 4.2 ft lbs. Which means we have a 499fps pistol at 10ft/lbs and anyone over 18 can buy one,no licence, Once both are over that limit than PAL licence is required. However pistols cannot be both over 500 and 4.2ftbs as they would be restricted weapons are require a an Rpal. Confusing and stupid...

Yeah ~ the full auto fun is prohibited in UK... And looks our gun licence is easier to get than UK, actually just a common sense safety course and pass the exam and you can then open the whole new world...

And indeed, shooting close range like in the basement on targets, 12fpe just more than enough but you need a PAL to buy in Canada...
